Warm Up (15 mins)

Developing understanding of the basic skill

Pre Drill

-Bib half players

-Every player with a ball

-Greens on longer lines, number them 1

-Bibbed players on shorter sides, numbered 2

Instructions

-If coach calls for 1's, players on both sides dribble across box and stop ball on the opposite side

-If coach calls for 2's players on both sides run with the ball and stop it on the opposite side

Progressions

-Call both numbers

-Rotate movement

Coaching points

-Running with the ball - Bigger strides, Lift head, stronger foot - Ronaldo

-Driblling - Tight control, close touches, both feet - Messi

Technical Practice (20 mins)

Pre Drill

-Add inner box

-Red inside small square

-Green in Larger

Instructions

- Red players must stay inside small square and take small touches and keep close control (messi)

-Red attempt to tag as many green players comming through the middle as possible

-Green players must run the ball through the small square as many times to the other side, avoiding being tagged

-Green players can go in and come out any side they choose.

-Keep count of how many tags/runs you make

Rotate after 5 minutes

Coaching points

-Play with head up, scanning as much as possible

-Be aware of space: when tight control ball close, when in space run with it

-Close touches from players in the middle

-Changes of direction

Game Related (20 mins)

Pre Drill

-Add a gate in the middle of the pitch and add small goals

-Split the rest of the players evenly and line up with ball at diagonal cones(A+B)

Instruction

-At the same time, a player from A & B runs the ball through the central gate and goes 1v1 with defender to dribble through goal

-Once the attacker has either dribbled the ball and scored or loses the ball, he becomes the defender and the previous defender takes the ball to the back of the closest que.

-Lifting head when dribbling/running

-Do we effectivly use the space ? (Running to the gate, dribbling if 1v1)

-Larger touches on the run, Tighter on the dribble
