Warm-up (20 mins)

Organization:

1.- 20 x 20 yard area set up as shown

2.- 1 ball per player

3.- Cones (different color)

Story / Description:

1.- Each driver (player), car (ball) is parked in one of the four parking garages

2.- When the coach yells clockwise all the cars have to be driven in a clockwise direction to the new parking garage

3.- When the coach yells counter-clockwise all the cars have to be driven in a counter-clockwise direction to the new parking garage

4.- When the coach yells Criss Cross all the cars have to be driven to the opposite garage

Coaching Points:

1.- Drive quickly when there are not cars in front of you

2.- Slow down in traffic

3.- Keep your car close to you

Progressions:

1.- The police (coach) try to get the cars when they are between parking garages

2.- Add sitting traffic (tall cones) around the area so that cars must find new routes

Turning: Inside Cut (20 mins)

Organization:

1.- 20 x 30 yard area set up as shown

2.- 12 players (ball per player)

3.- Cones of different color

Instructions:

 

1.- Players have to dribble the ball through the gates, and then perform a turning movement to come back throught the same gate

2.- Players have to find different gates all the time, they can not go through the same gate twice in a row

3.- When time runs out, players must get back to the cave (center circle) as quick as possible .

4.- After some exercises, players must dribble the ball and perform the turning movement through as many gates as possible.

Coaching Points:

1.- Step to the side of the ball with the non kicking foot

2.- Pivot on that foot

3.- Cut the ball back with the inside of the opposite foot

Progressions:

1.- Perform turning movement with different foot

2.- Perform a different turn

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Organization:

1.- 30 x 20 yard area set up as shown

2.- 6 players (3 Attackers, 3 Defenders) set up as shown

3.- 1 ball (Additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1.- Players score by dribbling or passing the ball through one of their two designated goals situated in the corners of the area

2.- One team attempts to score in goals labeled (A) and the other in goals labeled (B), these goals can be different colors so that players can easily visualize where they’re trying to score

3.- If the ball leaves the area the game is restarted with a kick-in

4.- Play for a set time limit

Coaching Points:

1.- Controlled approach

2.- Appropriate turn to protect or change direction

3.- Bend the knees to create a platform to accelerate

4.- Turn into space

5.- Take away with the nearest foot and surface

6.- Head up after turning for next action

Progressions:

P – Reduce the size of the area

R – Reduce numbers of players to 1 vs. 1 or 2 vs. 2
