Session Organisation: (Possession Exercise 1)
- 3 teams of 4 (orange/blue/yellow)
Rules :
- 1 team of 4 has unlimited touches, goal = possession/stop ball in one of 4 squares
- other 2 teams keep possession, 2 touch only
- play 90 secs, rotate team of 4 trying to score
Coaching Points :
- 2 teams of 4 (= 8) quick movement, pas
- keep ball on ground, with 8 have numerical advantage
- team of 4 change direction and use unlimited touches to target a goal

Session Organisation: (Possession Exercise 2 - 15 mins)
- 2 teams of 6 (red/blue)
- 4 outfield players, 2 confined to a square
Rules :
- each team has 2 players in a square that they cannot leave until they receive a ball (the player playing them the ball takes their place when they release them)
- no one can enter the square to tackle the player (only one allowed in square is the one waiting to be released)
Coaching Points :
- unlimited touches
- quick ball movement
- counter attack (one team running north/south, the other east/west)
- progression - reduce to 2 touch

Session Organisation :
- set up in realistic section of pitch
- 12 field players in total
- 8 field players (4 backs & 4 mids) stand in attacking formation (4-1-3-2 variation of 4-4-2 diamond)
- 4 blue players act as passive defenders (strikers & extras as not needed)
Rules :
- ball starts with 11 who plays back to 5.
- as 5 turns towards 4 to play 4 the ball,
1. 6 takes the place of 3
2. 3 pushes over and takes the place of 2
3. 2 pushes up and overloads up the line by pushing 7 infield
4. 10 drops to take the place of the 6 to maintain structure
NB: repeat on other side
Coaching Points :
- Initial Cue for rotation is 5 turning to play to 4, triggering 6 to head towards 3 (on other side 2 turning to play to 3, triggering 6 to head towards 4)
- field position/body position & timing of runs
- 6 body position is to open up body to see both the ball and 4, and the right back position (where 3 has taken the place of 2)
- all other players to run by being able to see ball plus where they are going
- only 11,5,4 remain in same positions, 3/6/2/7/10/ all rotate
NB: repeat on other side where 7,3,2 remain in same positions, and 4/6/5/11/10 all rotate.
This type of rotation is usually best performed when opposition is pressing or man to man marking, to drag them into unfamiliar or poor defending positions.

Where/Why :
This type of rotation is usually best performed when opposition is pressing or man to man marking, to drag them into unfamiliar or poor defending positions. (mostly middle 3rd of park).
