Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): 5v5 + 2 strikers shooting SSG

Organization:

Set up an area 36yd long and width of penalty box. 2 nets with GKs. Mark half way line (edge of penalty box) with 2 large pylons. Plenty of balls in each net. 6v6.

Each team plays in their own half except for striker who stays in opponents half. His role is to apply pressure and can only initially score on rebounds. Players must pass within their own half and find opportunity to shoot on goal. If a goal is scored or ball goes out of bounds play restarts with defending GK.

Progression:

Attacking team may play ball to striker and support in attacking zone. All players may now finsish.

Coaching Points:

Identify right opportunity to shoot.

Ability to identify player in better position to score.
