Description :
> 1v1.
> 20x30 channel.
> one attacking team.
> one defending team.
> defenders start with the ball & must pass the ball down to the attacker & close down.
> attacker must control ball & look to get beyond defender to score into mini goal.
> focusing on our attacking player's change of pace. If the defender closes us down quickly - what pace should we start at & when should we accelerate? If the defender stands off us - can we take the game to the defender & what pace should we start at?
> encourage players to change pace when on the ball, don't always go at same pace - how can we make it more difficult for the defender?
Coaching Points :
> use inside of foot & get body behind ball to get under control.
> toe pointing down, use laces to drive the ball forward.
> drop shoulders, move body to make more difficult for defender.
> head up & down to see ball & defender so we know when to change pace.

> players now into a 3v3 game, make field as big as possible to allow players to take on defenders & drive away with pace.

> movement off ball to get into good space to receive ball & dribble.
> controlled first touch to get ball close to feet.
> small touches when approaching defender, slightly bigger touch to drive into space.
> toe pointing down, use laces to push ball forward.

Warm Up (10 mins)
Description :
> 1 ball each player.
> 30x30 grid.
> players will start without a ball & must jog around field, when they approach a pole they must look to drop their shoulder & go past the pole. Looking for players to change speed when going beyond pole.
> now add in soccer ball for each player. Players must dribble around field keeping ball close to them, same as before but with a ball, players must dribble towards pole & look to go beyond pole & acclerate with pace into the space.
Progression :
> take poles away, more game realistic now as players must use one another as defenders & look to drive with speed beyond the player.
Coaching Points :
> toe pointing down, use laces to drive the ball forward.
> head up & down to see ball & pole so we know when to change pace.
> small touches when approaching pole.
> bigger touch when looking to accelerate away from pole.
