Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Building out the back

Intro (5 mins)

Organization:

• 2 teams of 5
• Each team has two players on the outside
• 1 ball per team

Instructions:

• Blues play East to West and Reds play North to South
• Players look to receive in the middle, pass to a teammate and then play to the opposite end.
• Every tie they bounce off and end player they get a point.
• Outside players are able to slide along their line.

Coaching Points/Questions:

• Recieve on the backfoot
• Check/scan before receiving 
• Recycle if under pressure.

Regressions:

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Organization:

• 2 teams: Build out team has 6 and defending team has 4 

Instructions:

• The ball starts with the GK who plays left or right to a defender.
• Once the ball has been played, blue defenders are able to pressure the ball.
• The red team is looking to build out and score at the opposite end.

Coaching Points/Questions:

• 2 red defenders provide width
• What are the triggers to play forward?
• Can our CM check/scan and get on the ball?
• Movement of striker 

Progressions:

• Reduce the number of red players and add one to the blues.

Regressions:

• Blue players cannot enter under the attacking player receives the ball.
