In this session we will be teaching the players about 1v1 working defending Players should be encouraged to press and recovery quickly. This running shouldn’t be done slowly but instead with players sprinting to either press or recover back into their shape. If players are to press, it’s important they slow down as they approach to ensure they’re not beaten by the opposition player with the ball.
Contained in the session content are many activities to choose from it is you must not try to deliver all activities, you as the coach to choose the right ones for the groups you are coaching each day on the program based on ability levels
EG
Warm-Up- What Finishing technique to use to use introduce this in the warm-up ?
Main theme-Implementing technique with stages of pressure
Conditioned game- what game to pick based on the end product & learning outcomes my group can achieveEnd game- Identify a moment to teach the restart & bring out the principle of play
MVP points System
The player MVP system is a staple of the program and one we use to set competition from the start of the session to the finish between each individual
The way the system works every player has 5 MVP points to start, Players can win more points by applying themselves to each activity with full commitment trying their hardest to progress, and being awarded points by the coach
Players can also win points during each activity by scoring the most points for that activity and for that they will pick up 2 MVP points from the coach.
We also use the point system to reinforce good standards like staying in bounds, not bumping into other players, and good behavior. the player can lose their points when these standards are not met. Try to use it as a motivator, not a punishment.
Once the players get used to this system they will become more responsible for their own development
Coaching In the Game (Please focus to make two stoppages during the end game to reinforce the learning outcomes below) Is Vital FOR THE PROGRAM TO PLAYERS BE TEACH ON A GAME SCENARIO
Restart Week 6
This week we will focus on Goal kick
Principle of play Week 7 Pressure
Pressure :This is the role of the first defender. The first defender is generally the person who is closest to the ball. Their primary role is to deny and control the penetration of the other team (they don’t want the ball to get behind them). The role of the first defender is further broken down into four steps: approach, delay, control and tackle.

Restart Week 10 Corner Kicks
Support – Links to movement but more specifically focuses on how you will support the player on the ball. Support can be provided behind, ahead and beside the player on the ball. In order to provide support effectively, players should look to create space from their movement and look to provide angles and distance to be able to receive the ball.
Width - The ability to stretch our opponents laterally across the field and also provide opportunity for penetration via wide areas. Correct positioning also gives opportunities to switch the play to exploit the weak side.
