Ball Mastery Warm Up (15 mins)

Ball Mastery Warm Up

Each player with a ball, coach will demonstrate skill and the children will copy. After 30 seconds the coach will blow his whistle and the children will take their ball and move to the next line

Skills to include: sole rolls, v pull push, scissors, stepovers, pull-push

Playing forwards practice (20 mins)

Coaching points:

- Body position

- Check shoulders

- Receive out of feet

- Type of touch - forwards/backwards/sideways

- Back foot/ front foot

Set Up:

- Red and blue players have to pass the ball and play it into the red squares. Once they have controlled the ball in one square they then work it to the other side.

Challenges:

- Can you be in a position where you can see where the ball is coming from and where you want to go with it?

- Can you play 2 touch?

Possession (20 mins)

Coaching points:

- Body position

- Check shoulders

- Receive out of feet

- Type of touch - forwards/backwards/sideways

- Back foot/ front foot

Set Up

2 teams, 1 ball. Team in possession have to move the ball from 1 square to the other and receive the ball in the other square to get 1 point. Once they have scored they can then attack the other box. If the defending team win the ball they attack the other box.

Challenges

- Can you show me how you can receive the ball so that you protect it from the other team?

- If you can, try and make sure your first touch allows you to play forwards quickly?

- Can you make yourself aware of whats around you before the ball gets to you?
