Football/Soccer Session (Advanced): Possession to goal

Set up as shown 6 sides  with two goals. 

Instructions: 6 v 3 in the inside. Outside players are on two touch. Object of the game, Keepers play to blue. blue is to control the ball. Every 10 passes makes a point. Blue can use keepers and counts as a pass. 

Green: If the 3 players win the ball in the middle win the ball, they have to play ball out side (forces the outside players to stay wide and create space in the middle). If green wins the ball on side A they have to score on the B side. Out side players can pass to each other and can shoot. Goal is worth 2 points if it's a cross. 

Possession Transfer & Finilizing (25 mins)

Description: 25min

Divide players in two groups 6 vs 4 + 3GK

6 players play outside the palying area + 4 defenders

Associate a number to every three attacking players

The attacking players have to keep possession around to find the right gap to shoot in one of the 4 goals

The defending players cannot tackle the outsider players. They can only shield and stop the shots.

If the defending team wins the possession the coach has to call a number

The players with that number have to get into the box and win the ball back

If they win the ball they have to transfer the ball outside the box again to restart the game

Every goal scored is 1 point

Every 5 passes from the defenders = 1 point; 9 passes = 3 points

Playing Through The Third (25 mins)

Description: 25min

4 Blues v 4 Yellows + 4 Reds

4 Blues vs 2 Yellows in Zone 1, 3 Yellows (screening) in Zone 2, 4 Reds in Zone 3

Game starts with 4 Blues v 2 Yellows with the Blue team maintaining possession with emphasis on transferring the ball through Zone 2 into Zone 3 to Red Team

If Blue team are successful in transferring the ball, 2 of the 3 Yellow players in Zone 2 must now move into Zone 3 and attempt to win the ball with the 2 players in Zone 1 now moving into Zone 2, Red team have same objective as Blue team

If Yellow team win possession from Blue team, they must now transfer the ball to Red team and transition to attacking team, while Blue team now must transition to defend with 3 players in Zone 2 and 2 players in Zone 3 attempting to win the ball.

Coaching Points:

Have a supply of footballs to keep the practice flowing

Team in possession to complete at least 4 passesbefore transfer
