2v1-3v2 to Goal

Organisation:

  • Play starts with the green GK playing to #1, on receiving #1 attacks the opposite goal with red #2 coming out to defend.
  • On scoring/ball going out of play, red #3 comes out with the ball to attack the opposite goal with red #2 with blue #1 transitioning to defend.
  • Again, on scoring/out of play, blue #4&5 come out to create a 3v2 to finish.
  • Rotate teams roles halfway through. 

Modify:

  • Can make 3v3/4v4.
  • Give bonus points for a goal scored using a combination play (1-2, overlap)
Attacking KPs:
  • Attack with speed

  • Soft touches on approach - engage 1st defender
  • Big touches to get past the defender.
  • Change of speed/direction to beat the defender.
  • Play with head up - scanning. 

Defending KPs:
  • Delay attacking players
  • 'High to low' & 'Fast to slow' on approach to the attacker
  • Show wide/away from goal
Transition KPs:
  • Quick reaction to transition
  • Can we pass forward/score quickly (attack)
  • Can we regroup quickly (defence)

  • How can you create space for your teammate on the ball?
  • What sort of movement or run can you make?

Organisation:

  • Play starts with wither blue attacker coming forward with the ball.
  • 2v1 to goal with a GK as shown in a large goal.
  • 2 mini-goals are at the opposite end for if/when the red defenders wins the ball back and transitions to attack. 
  • Swap team roles halfway through.

2v1+1 Recovery

Organisation:

  • Play starts with wither blue attacker coming forward with the ball.
  • 2v1 to goal with a GK as shown in a large goal.
  • A recovering red defender makes the run shown and then onto the field to support red #2. 
  • 2 mini-goals are at the opposite end for if/when the red defenders wins the ball back and transitions to attack. 
  • Swap team roles halfway through.

Modify:

  • Can score by stopping the ball on the opposite line/end zone if no goals/goalkeepers.

  • Blues attack the main goal in a 3v2 overload along with a defending GK.
  • After scoring/out of play a coach plays a pass to red #4&5 who in turn transition to attack vs. blue #2&3 in their respective wide channels. 
  • Swap team roles halfway through.

4v2+2 Recovery Runs

Organisation:

  • Blues start by attacking the large goal in a 4v2 overload.
  • Red #3&4 are defenders and start on the penalty box line.
  • Red #1&2 are recovering defenders who must run 5m back around the pole and then recover back into position.
  • If reds regain possession, they look to transition to attack into the mini-goals.
