Set Up
Group split into 3 groups. One group on the right wing cone, one on the left the other group in the middle. The middle group rotates around the 3 positions (AM, CF and AM2)
Organization
Players do a series of patterns going to goal.
P1 - Fullback (2,3 crosses) 6 passes to 10 who turns and plays to 7, 7 dribbles at defnder but plays the overlapping 2 to cross the ball. 11, 9, 10 and 7 enter box for cross, 6 arrives late for pull back or rebound, 8 offers support to 2 for switch and acts as 1st defender in any counter. Achieve movement from otherside also.
P2 - 8 crosses. As above but now 2 drops ball back to 8 to cross from deep. Players re-route runs.
P3 - 7 combines with 9 for one/two or third man run with fullback. Do on both sides.
P4 - Ball is dropped to 8, back to 6 to 11 and out the other side with over lap from 3. Talk about movement off others to get back in the correct shape.
Coaching Points:
Movement off the ball including timing
Quality in technique (first touch and passing)
Body shape when receiving
Check shoulder (avoid mannequin *defender*)
2/3 - Looking for cue for overlap, knowing where to drop too when play is switched.
6/8 - Knowing when to attack, support and hold position
10 - offering central support, switching play and timing of runs into box
7/11 - starting wide and coming in in the final 3rd. Knowing when to go alone, combine and support. Also timing of run into box when cross is coming from the other side.
9 - Supporting runs and timing of runs to get into box to finish
