  • Objective: Players complete passing sequence and finish with a shot on goal.
  • Organisation: see picture.

Activity:

  • Red passes to orange. Orange passes to yellow. Yellow passes to green. Green shoots on blue. Blue gets a ball and runs back up to red cone for the next sequence.

Coaching Points: 

  • Series 1 in the picture set up x2: 1 net, soccer balls at red cone, goalies, one player per cone (red cone has two players),
  • Player 1 passes to player 2, players 2 passes to player 3, players 3 passes to player 4, players 4 open up touch and drives to get a shot on goal

Progression: player 3 puts pressure on player 4 as they go to shoot.

Focus: Shooting technique at speed

  • Angle (right foot kick = right foot roll out, left foot kick = roll out to the left), angle approach, plant foot pointing to target, laces make contact with middle of the ball with toe pointing down, follow through

  • Starting with Player A → player dribbles down the wing into the red square and crosses the ball to Player B
  • While Player A is dribbling down the line, Player B makes the run around the blue cone and then into the 18 yrd box in time for the cross
  • Once play has finished on the right side, play switches to the left side with the same sequence however Player C is dribbling down the line
  • When inside the box ideally player must finish with the inside part of the foot (more controlled)
  • After Players are done their turn Player A moves to line B, Player B moves to line C, and Player C moves to line A
  • Focus: proper angle of approach, part of the foot and part of the ball, body over ball + head down when striking, hit the target (the open spce of the net = where the goalkeeper isn't)
