Name Game (10 mins)

All players are in the circle, or other designated space.

Half the players have balls, half do not.

All players move around in space and those who do not have balls call for the ball from the players who do.

Can make it a competition by going for 2-3 mins and saying those who have a ball at the end win

- must learn everyone's name in order to be successful!

- no one should ever be stationary

- no passing 2 balls to 1 player - awareness

- make the space big enough so players can maintain distance from each other

pass/dribble in a square - 1 (10 mins)

In groups of 3 or 4:

Ball will continuously travel as shown. Player A starts by dribbling around the blue cone and passing across their body (feet forward) to player B who has left their cone to receive on the move. Player B then dribbles around the blue cone in front of them and passes across their body to player C. Player C repeats, exactly the same as A did. Each player follows to the next cone after they pass, to get ready to receive once the ball comes back around.

*All passes and receptions should be IN MOTION!*

Variations:

- change the direction

- pass off right foot, in motion

- use backhand sweeps to pass (in opposite direction than what is shown)

- lifted passes

Leading and shooting (10 mins)

Player 1 passes to Player 2 who is standing inside on the yellow cone. Player 2 passes back to Player 1 and then makes a hook shaped lead up around the line of red cones and back towards goal. Player 2 passes the ball to Player 1 again on the outside of the cones. Player 2 then shoots on goal.

Emphasis on receiving open!

On the left side, encourage backhand shooting (reverse sweep or backhand hit, depending on ability).

For the younger groups who have not learned backhand shooting skills yet, encourage proper footwork to get feet around and ball back to forehand.

Forehand shooting from right side - encourage upright hits (or sweeps from younger groups). Don't forget the Left-Right-Left footwork!

Rob the Nest 2 (20 mins)

4 teams. Each team has one nest to fill. Put the balls in the centre circle. When you say go each team runs to the middle and dribbles a ball back to their nest. Then they go back to the middle circle to get another one.

Option 1 - can end the game after all middle balls are gone. Team with the most in their nest wins.

Option 2 - after the middle circle is depleted teams can steal balls from other teams' nests. No tackling or defending nests. At the end, the team with the most in their nest wins.
