Key Factors
The key factors remain the same for thi progression but he pattersn changes slightly to now include a lomger range pass.
Organisation
This progression sees most of the pattern remain the same, but on this occasion, when the ball is played to the wide player, instead of the wide player opening out and playing the ball forward, the wide player lays the ball back to the original passer, who plays a long pass across to the top player (striker).
The wide player moves to the top of te drill and the long range passer becomes the wide player. Everyone else stays th same.
Complete this for 2 minutes before changing direction.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Key Factors
The set up for this progression remains te same but now there are more lay offs and combinations, the key factors remain consistent throughout.
Organisation
In this progression, the end players (CH) play into te middle player, the middle player lays it back to the CH who plays a long pass across to the wide player. The wide player lays the ball back to the opposite CH who plays a long pass into the top player (ST).
Players then move on to the next station, as in the first progression.

Key Factors
The purpose of this possession game is to test the players ability to pass the ball accurately and utilise combination play whilst under pressure from an opponent. The focus is on the players ability to maintain possession through good quality passing, creating space and utilising the spare man.
Organisation
Set up an area that is suitable for the number and age of the players you are coaching. Set up a rectangle area that is split with a half way line.
Split the players into two equal teams (this can be done with any number of players, if there is an odd number intlude a common player who always plays for the team in possession, but ensure you rotate this player).
All the players, except for two from the same team, start in one half of the playing area. The two others position themselves at the back line of the other half of the area.
This creates a two player overload for one team, in this case the reds who are playing 6v4. The team with the overload start with the ball, their aim is to keep the ball for as long as possible. The team with less players must work to win the ball back. When the ball is won by the defending team they must pass the ball over to one of the two players on the other side of the area (this does not have to be done straight way, but the reds will try and get the ball back).
All the players, except two from the team that has lost the ball transfer over to the other side of the area and the drill repeats itself.
Complete 4 sets of 3 minute games, possible progressions:
- Reduce the number of touches for the possession team.
- Award 'goals' for high numbers of passes for the possession team.
- Add or remove an end player to make more difficult or easy.
- Stipulate the defending team must complete a combination before passing the ball over.

Key Factors
The purpose of this small sided game is to build upon the work done previously in the session. The key factors remain the ability of players to combine to defeat an opponent, to develop passing accuracy and range and to ensure players are comfotbale in possession and work to create angles and create the spare man.
Organisation
Set up an area size that is suitbale for the amount and age of the players.
On the pitch, place 4 mini goals, two at each end, facing back to back, and roughly 5 yards within the end line of the area.
Split the players into two equal teams.
This game is directional so each team will have an end to play towards.
The purpose of the game is to use possession to create an opportunity to play a pass that will allow a team amte to score a goal. All goals must be socred with a first time finish.
Players are allowed to move into any area of the pitch, there are no restrictions and no offsides. If a goal goes in, the coach starts the game with a ball from the side, if the ball goes out, its a kick in but goals cannot be scored from a kick in.

Key Factors
The purpose of this final game is once again to ensure players are able to utilise combination play and passing range to defeat an opponent. This game encourages players to play forward with quality.
Organisation
Set up an area that is suitbale for the age and number of players. Split the players into two equal teams. Place two players from each team either side of the goal at either end. The teams will shoot towards the end their players are positioned.
This is normal football, however before scoring a goal, the possession team must play a pass to one of their end players. The end player will then play the ball back into the area to a team mate who must then look to score. The player who played the pass out to the end player then swaps places with the end player. End players are on 2 touches, everybody else is all in. Kick ins if ball goes out.
3x6 minute games.

Technical Drill- Prog 1
Key Factors
The purpose of this session is to provide players with the opportunity to perfect a number of passing variation techniques as well as recieving options and playing using 1 or 2 touch. This session will demonstrate 3 progressions, however, feel free to include your own progressions. Focus should be on tempo, quality and accuarcy of the pass and ball speed, as well as players reciving the ball with the correct foot and angling their bodies correctly to recievie the ball.
This session is also designed to mimick in game passing options, with the positions of CH, CM, WP and ST all covered.
Organisation
Set up the session as seen in the animation, using distances that are realsitic to your players age and ability, and ensure there is a mix of long and short range passing.
This session requires 10 players, if you have less than players, remove one of the wide players and allow the players to pass all the way across the area.
Start with 2 balls and introduce more if you have more players or if the the session is flowing really well.
As in the animation the balls start on opposite sides, and everyone works the same way. Follow the pattern as seen in the animation with players following their passes.
Work for 2 minutes and then repeat going to opposite direction to ensure that both feet are worked.
