Warm up

Warm up (10 minutes)

All participants will jog in a circle for about 30 seconds, then they will be told to stop and do the exercise I tell them to do (in order: 5 press ups , 5 burpees , 5 squats).

 If any participants can not perform any of the exercises they are told to do then they can perform an easier version to compensate. After each exercise is complete they will continue to jog in a circle for another 30 seconds then will do the next exercise until all 3 have been finished, this should take about 5 minutes using no equipment. Then everyone will be told to stand still and copy the stretches I do in the middle of the circle.

 The stretches included will be used to stretch the groin , arms/shoulders and hips/hamstring to prevent injury, stretching should last about 5 minutes.

Drill 1

Drill 1 (20 minutes)

All participants will be paired up with someone of equal size and given a pair of thai pads and boxing gloves. Partner 1 will hold the thai pads at head height, shoulder length apart while partner 2 puts on the gloves to practice the combination.

 The first drill will be continuing to practice the jab and the low kick, partner 2 will throw jab,low kick for 10 minutes then will swap with the thai pads and gloves with partner 1 allowing them to practice the jab,low kick combination for the final 10 minutes. For more advanced participants they can add the cross strike after the low kick to add more movement to the drill.

Drill 2

Drill 2 (25 minutes)

Again partner 1 and 2 will have a set of thai pads and boxing gloves between them, the combination for the second drill will be a jab,cross,left/right hook (depending on the participants strong hand). 

Partner 1 will hold the thai pads allowing partner 2 time to practice the combination, after 10 minutes the partners swap over and partner 1 will be given 10 minutes to practise the jab,cross,left/right hook combination

For more advanced participants they can while throwing the combination can side step while they throw the hook.

5 minutes allocated at the start allows me to demonstrate the combination using proper technique.

Cooldown

Cooldown (5 minutes)

All participants will walk in a circle clockwise while performing an upper body stretch or any other stretches they see fit while breathing in through their nose and out through their mouth to prevent lactic acid build up, or muscle injury.
