Warm Up (10 mins)

Description :

> full half of 4v4 field.

> 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 depending on numbers.

> 1 ball per game.

> 4 goals placed in each corner of the field.

> Coach will stand on outside of field in a central position with all the soccer balls at their feet. Ready to throw 1 ball onto the field for the Players to play with.

> Players will stand in their teams on either side of the Coach waiting for the ball to be rolled onto the field which indicates the start of the game.

> Objective of the game is for team to score into opposition goal to gain a point. IF game lasts too long then Coach can shout " GET OUTTA HERE " which means Players on field must leave immediately & another group of Players will enter the field with a new ball thrown into the game. ( aim for the game to last no longer than 15 seconds )

> Fun warm up game to allow the Players to get touches on the ball & moving around the field straight away.

Activity 1 (10 mins)

Description :

> full half of 4v4 field.

> 1v1 with 1 ball.

> Both Players can score into ANY of the 4 goals placed in corners.

> In Activity 1, we already spoke to players about " Why? " it is important to keep the ball in the field. Even more importance will be on this now as Player can lose points if ball leaves field at the sidelines.

> Goal = 1 point. Dribble out Field = -1 point. ( do not go below score of 0. Only use minus point system if Player already has points )

Coaching Points :

1) Soft touches to keep ball close to our body.

2) Slow down when near outside of field.

3) Head must go up & down to see field, ball & opponent.

Activity 2 (10 mins)

Description :

> full half of 4v4 field.

> 1v1 with 1 ball.

> 2 goals in either corner on opposite side of starting position.

> Coach will be on outside but changed position so field is now longer & narrower for the Players.

> Players will be on either side of the Coach waiting for ball.

> Objective of the game is for Players to go into a 1v1 scenario. Player must look to dribble the ball closer to one of the goals while also focusing on how they can keep the ball on the field.

> Any Player who has possession of ball can score into ANY of the goals but must dribble through the gate with the ball close to their feet.

> Focus on Players doing their best to keep the ball in the field. Speak to Players about " Why? " we need to do this.

> Goal = 1 point.

> Minus point system is no longer in play but if you find Players dribbling out too much then feel free to add back into the session.

Progression :

> Take away a goal & now place 1 goal in central position on the line. This will now make it more difficult & challenging for Players as they now have to dribble to 1 goal in a central area rather than having 2 goals in the wider areas.

Coaching Points :

1) Soft touches to keep ball close to our body.

2) Slow down when near outside of field.

3) Head must go up & down to see field, ball & opponent.

Game (20 mins)

Description :

> full half of 4v4 field.

> 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 depending on numbers.

> 2 goals in central areas of outside line.

> Allow the Players to play the first few minutes without coaching too much. This will let you see if any Player is putting into practice what they learned throughout the session.

> Speak to Players about what was the main focus of practice & why we need to add it into our game?

> Look to add in chance of extra points : Shoot into Goal = 1 point. Dribble into Goal = 2 points. ( this will also encourage Players to run with the ball to gain points more & more )
