Deep back four 4-4-2

Organisation

Reds formation is 4-4-2 v Blues formation of 3-5-2

Using players in shaded area .

Reds 4-4 (8) plus gk v Blues 1-4-2 (7)

Aims:

Blues are attacking, whilst reds are focussing on defending with a deep back 4. Every player will have an understanding of their roles and responsibilities within the team.

Both central midfielders come across and both be aware of oppostion midfielder and cut off passing lane into strikers. They will drop slightly deeper as not to leave too bigger distance between them and the back 4.

Wide players , nearest one will get tight to the wide player as he is the next passing option. Other wide player comes across and almost sits on furthest central midfielder as opposite wide attacking player is least dangerous

Rules :

Blues looking to score in big goal, Reds score in either small goal within 154 seconds

Back 4 and Goalkeepers movement

Back four both centre backs keep their strikers in front of them , cant get pulled out too far as it is a very deep line and runners will stay on side. This may alow ball into strikers feet so its important they communicate with midfilders in front of them.

Full backs will narrow up not leaving space between that stikers could exploit.

Goalkeeper will take starting position off the back 4 and will have to play slightly deeper not to be too close and could cause confusion with defenders.

Objectives and reasons. (30 mins)

Coaching Points:

All of the above points. aswell as :

.Distances between units, there has to be discipline from every player and patience.

.Goalkeepers starting positon will be slightly deeper than normal as there will have to be gap between back 4 not to cause confusion.

. Communication is vital and there will be times where they will not have the ball for long periods.

30-35 minute game

8minutes work/ 3 minutes rest

Objectives

Keep oppositon play infront.

If there is a quick strike force then dropping deeper will not allow any space in behind for them to exploit.

Condense the play and make opposition break down all 8 players in one half of the pitch.

Frustrate opposition as there will be no space to enter our final third.

Hopefully giving the player on the ball the only option of a backward or side ways pass.

Reflection.

Players used:Llangynwydd 1st team

DESCRIPTION.. What happend.....

Using 15 players and 1 goalkeeper.

Session worked quite well as it took a little time to get every player to recognise that it is more about patience than hunting the ball.

After showing both demonstrations and using a question and answer approach the team did take the information on board and the objectives wre achieved

Feelings....

Before.. Uncertainty as the session took the team into a different formation that they were used to.

During... Session started very disjointed as players were not used to playing this style of football.

But during the 30 minute half pitch practice it soon became clear that they had took everything asked of them on board.

After..Players realised there are several ways of playing and it opened their minds to a broader understanding of the game.

EVALUATION.

Good. Players understanding of when to put pressure on the ball and when to drop was very good.

Bad. Now and again players felt they needed to get the ball back quicker, especially the centre midfielders. This led to balls being played into strikers feet on a few occasions.

Analysis... How I influenced session....

Observing palyers and thier movement. Diagonsing problems as they arose in the 30 minute game.

Vocally giving instruction and just bthe odd reminders of discipline amongst the team.

Conclusion...

Session worked quite well, it isnt thier usual shape as a team.

Action Plan..

Next time I conduct the session I will add a big goal instead of 2 little ones. Making it more game realistic

Limitations..

No real limitations within the session. Players were open to the different style of play.
