Screen 1

Blues (1-3-5-2 point up) v Reds (1-4-3-3)

Organisation

Ideally 2 thirds of the pitch. Width two steps past 18 either side.

Play for 7 football blocks.

Footballs start with the goalkeeper.

Blues are locked into the central zone, reds can go anywhere to prevent scoring but have 2 touches to bring the ball back centrally.

Blues look to work the ball into 7 or 11 for 1 point or into 9 or 10 for 5 points.

Reds look to score in the big goal within 7 seconds of the regain. If blues get the ball back the ball is still alive. After 7 seconds the football with the reds becomes dead.

Technical Detail

-Movement to create space in order to switch

- Half turning techniques off both feet

- Receiving skills and range of passing off both feet

- 360 awareness

- Scanning and look away from the ball before

- Body shape before receiving

- Touch into space away from pressure

- Detail on passes, passes communicate - punch equals turn - soft equals you have pressure.

- Ball Speed

Tactical detail.

Goalkeeper - if the opposition start to cheat play into 7 or 11 and/or 9 or 10.

Back 3

- Starting positions as a 3 at the back

- Composure in possession in own thirds, Use the GK to switch if required

- Look to get one of the outside defenders in the back 3 to receive past their press, to either step in or pass through the lines

- Middle centre back stay deepest unless an opportunity to step.

- If someone steps then defend as a back two

Midfield

- Positions of the mid-field, being on different lines

- Timing of movement to arrive in the space, receive on the half turn to play forward.

- When deep lying midfield player receives it one other support to create an angle, the other to run in behind

Potential pictures

GK into goals - this will help keep opposition honest.

Outside centre back stepping in.

Outside centre back into opposite side midfield player who plays round the corner into wing backs.
