1v1 Simulate attacking flank
Blue player dribbles at red and attempts to beat red to access shooting/crossing zone.
Coaching points: try to use pace and deception to beat the defender.
Emphasize principles:
1- drives to bye line and passes across 6 or
2- drives centrally to create a shot.
(Note: 3rd choice would be to try to cross if can't beat defender)
Switch roles from A to D.
After 5 minutes switch flanks.

Defenders take 2 minute shifts.
FB/W takes on defender and either:
1- drives to bye line and passes across 6 or
2- drives centrally to create a shot.
Rotate A-B-C
CP: if driving the bye line commit the GK to the near post.
CP: if driving centrally don't use the forward, try to score.
(Coach marks forward until wing is ready to pass

3-1-3 vs 3-1-3 (or 2-4-1, 2-3-2)
In the attack, ball must go around the cone line to encourage flank attacking.
Start with only GK + 2 defenders.
Progression: Add to blue team until 2-3-0.
Progression: Remove the line and play.

Combination play 1
Review shape with team (3-1-3, or 2-4-1 or 2-3-2)
Use half of the field (for U8/9 teams make field narrower) with central goals. Set up all players as shown on diagram. Coach players the center back. Full back loses his man and receives the ball to the feet. CMF loses his man and receives the ball. Full back running full speed to get the wall pass back. Full back makes a cross for center forward to finish it. Players rotate following way: CB - FB - GK - MF etc.
- Proper pace and timing of the pass!!
- Full back needs to fly in his wing to get overlap
- Immediate support for defender with the ball.
- Communication between players
- Finishing runs must be orchestrated: front post, far post, PK area
Progression: Add F. FB dribbles to bye line and crosses to F.
Progression: Change pole to active defender. Add 2nd defender in to defend F.

(10mins)
