4v4 + 2 to Goal (25 mins)

Description:

Teams of 3, plus 2 neutrals (wingbacks) play to keep the ball in an area marked (3 touch), once 5 successive passes are made, the team in possession looks to break the line with a through ball into space. Then players make runs into their guided finishing areas. The team that made the attack then swap out for the next group of 3. Wide players always stay in play.

Coaching Points/Questions:

Q - Why are you attacking areas important? A - To distribute players around the whole box (3 players in one space is not effective)

Q - Why are the timing of a run important? A - So you meet the ball, rather than wait for a ball to arrive.

Time your run so that you meet the cross at pace.

Pass quality into wide players, into space in front of the player.

Use neutral players in 3v3, create an overload to make it 5v3

Progression:

Add a defending team of 3.

The team in the marked area can make recovery runs to defend attack.
