Area:

create area 30m x 20m

Equipment:

4 balls, bibs and cones, dics or poles (for area).

Objective:

This is essentially a game of tag. Split players into 3 teams ( 3's or 4's ideally). One colour on the outside with the balls (greens) and the other two groups in the middle (blues, reds). One of the teams in the middle are chasing (reds) and the other in possesion (blues). The blues have to avoid being tagged by the reds. If they are tagged then they have to stand still with arms out. they can be released by a team mate giving them a high five. Whilst this game is happening there is a secondary challenge. The oplayers in possesion are trying to recieve a ball from a player on the outside and pass it to another player on the outside. If they are sucessful then they score a point. They can pass to other team mates inside the area if they think thery are about to be tagged and need to try and avoid being tagged. The round is over when either all players are caught or 2 minutes is over. The teams then swap. The team in possesion go on the outside, the chasing team become the team in possesion and the team coming in from the outside become the chasers.

Key points:

Encourage players to be mvoing around, light on their feet head up. Do not be static and challenge them to take risks by trying to get as many passes as possible and not be soley focused on staying un tagged.

Progression:

instead of a high 5 to release, a player is released by nutmegging the player stuck in the mud.

Simplify:

Reduce number of catchers or increase area size.
