SET UP:
- Progression of initial game with inclusion of additional attackers.
- Attacker in area must decide whether to slow play down to allow supporting players to join in and combine or to attack at speed to score quickly.
- Additional players need to focus on how they can support the player with the ball (in front/to the side or behind)
KEY POINTS:
- BODY SHAPE/ANGLE/POSITION (CAN I RECEIVE TO PLAY FORWARD + PROTECT BALL FROM 2ND DEFENDER)
- CHANGE IN DIRECTION/SPEED/TOUCHES
- BALL CIRCULATION (HARDER FOR DEFENDERS IF BALL IS MOVING RATHER THAN STATIC)
- CAN WE PLAY/MOVE FORWARD/BE DIRECT TO ATTACK GOAL AND KEEP 1V1 RATHER THAN 1V2?
- PERCEPTUAL AWARENESS (WHERE IS THE PLAYABLE SPACE? WHERE IS THE DEFENDER IN FRONT? WHERE IS THE DEFENDER BEHIND? WHERE ARE MY TEAMMATES LOCATED? LOCATION OF BALL?)
- CAN I MOVE TO SUPPORT AND BE AN OPTION FOR THE PLAYER WITH THE BALL (IN FRONT/TO THE SIDE/BEHIND THE BALL)
- MOVEMENT OFF THE BALL (TO CREATE SPACE FOR THE PLAYER WITH THE BALL/ TO CREATE SPACE FOR MYSELF TO RECEIVE/ TO CREATE SPACE FOR ANOTHER TEAMMATE TO RECEIVE.
- USE OF WIDTH AND DEPTH TO INCREASE PLAYABLE SPACE.
- POSITIONING (NOT RECEIVING ON THE SAME HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL LINES)
POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:
- 3v3
- Change of start positions (realistic to game)
- Change of goal location.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
SET UP:
- Pitch with central possession box.
- 2v2/3v3 in central box. Team must make 3 passes before they can breakout of the box by passing to their team's striker or a neutral player.
- They then try to score into goal in a 5v4 + GK. If defenders win ball they can play staright into their striker or neutrals to attack other goal. Goal will then restart in breakout box.
KEY POINTS:
- PASSING AS A MEANS TO MAINTAIN POSSESSION OF THE BALL.
- CAN WE MOVE BEYOND THE BALL TO CREATE A VERTICAL PASSING OPTION?
- CAN I MOVE TO SUPPORT AND BE AN OPTION FOR THE PLAYER WITH THE BALL? (IN FRONT/TO THE SIDE/BEHIND THE BALL)
- MOVEMENT OFF THE BALL (TO CREATE SPACE FOR THE PLAYER WITH THE BALL/ TO CREATE SPACE FOR MYSELF TO RECEIVE/ TO CREATE SPACE FOR ANOTHER TEAMMATE TO RECEIVE.
- USE OF WIDTH AND DEPTH TO INCREASE PLAYABLE SPACE (BY STRETCHING THE OPPOSITION HORIZONTALLY, WE CAN CREATE MORE SPACE VERTICALLY TO PLAY THROUGH/PENETRATE)
- POSITIONING ON DIFFERENT HORIZONTAL/VERTICAL RECEIVING LINES
- IF I AM IN A GOOD POSITION, CAN I GET TAKE A SHOT AT GOAL? (IS THERE SOMEONE WHO MIGHT BE IN A BETTER POSITION THAN ME TO SHOOT?)
POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:
- Different players rotating into breakout box.
- Pitch shape (funnel to promote central attacking).
- Winger for both teams (if numbers allow).
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
SET UP:
- Attacking phase of play. Ball starts with GK who plays out to one of opposition midfielders.
- Game then becomes live. Attacking team try to score in goal, opposition can score into mini goals once ball is reclaimed.
- Specific zones for defenders to aim to defend (Centre of pitch).
- Change of numbers and attacking set up.
- Focus on including specific attacking pattern (Overload to Isolate/Isolate to Overload/Up Back Through)

1v2
SET UP:
- 2 defenders start off pitch. 1 by own goal and one with ball at opposite goal. Player with ball passes in to attacker and both are then able to pressure ball.
- Objective is for attakcer to receive and attack at speed.
- If defenders win ball they can attack with an overload to opposite goal.
WHERE IS THE DEFENDER BEHIND?)
POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:
- 1v2 with different starting positions
- 1v1 with time limit to become 1v2.
- Change of goal positions.
