Conditioned 1v1 game (15 mins)

conditioned game-

1v1 to goal, must beat defender on dribble before shooting

coaching points-

focus on quick change of direction and change of pace in order to get shot off

stay faced up and don't just shield the balll

emphasis on aiming slighly off center and shot and not hitting "perfect" ball

Unoppossed and light oppossed technical (25 mins)

Unopposed technical-

Players go 2 at a time.

Inside player serves ball to outside player's feet and drops back to approximately the penalty area

Outside player dribbles at inside player and cuts in to get shot off

1) At first the inside player serves as a dummy defender... can only move 1 step either way to make it difficult.

2) inside player can move to block the first move but allows that attacker to go past after the second move.

3) inside player defends completely and attacker must get past the defender

4) attacker just needs to get shot off-- just get enough room to shoot without needing to get past defender

coaching points-

change of direction, change of pace

sometimes 2 moves are needed.

still beat the defender before shooting

for #4-- think about moves to get to the side quickly and shoot

light oppossed w/ cross (15 mins)

Light oppossed technical 3v1 with cross

play initiated with burgandy player at post checking in

player with ball combines with player from post to get ball back on the flank

defender comes into play at same time

when player with ball receives ball back, far post player enters

service from flank with expectation of a 1 touch finish

coaching points-

separation from defenders for the 2 attacking players- near post finishing hard on near post

far post run- framing the goal by facing it and not going too forward initially

body faces goal- determine what surface to use based on distance from goal and goalkeeper placement

conditioned game/free play (30 mins)

conditioned game/free play

5v5 or 6v6 in grid in tight space

lots of shots off- separation from defender

extra players - targets on flank that are limited to 1 or 2 touch based on ability

1) 2 touch only to increase ball movement and quick shots

2) free play with no touch restriction

coaching points-

get your shot off

imbalance defense (previous week) by switching the point of attack to increase time and space to shoot

outside backs may be the most open players and most likely to shoot/cross- how can we get them involved and on the ball?
