How/When to use a drag back turn.

Organization:
-24 x 24yd grid.
-6 gates.
-Every player has a ball.
Instructions:
-Dribble around the area keeping the ball close and in control.
-When a player goes through the gate, they must preform a drag back turn and go back through the same gate.
-Go find another gate and repeat the process.
-Only 1 player going through a gate at a time.
Coaching Points:
1. Proper technique of the turn (drag back).
2. Turn your body with the ball.
3. Head up once you turn so you can take a touch to open space.
4. Quick turns and burst of speed immediately following turn.
Progressions:
-Make the gates smaller, have to focus on technique.
-Make the area smaller so head is up after turn to avoid hitting other players.

Organization:
-Using the same circle set up as the warm up.
-All the balls in the middle of the circle.
-4 PUG goals on the corners of the circle.
Instructions:
-Players line up at the corners of the circle next to a PUG goal (as pictured).
-First player from each line run out to the pile of balls and preforms a drag back turn.
-Players then dribble their ball into the goal.
-Once the ball is in the goal, next player in line goes and preforms the same turn (drag back).
Coaching Points:
1. Proper technique of drag back turn (using sole of the foot, opening body to the same side as the foot being used, 2nd touch with the opposite foot).
2. Make sure players are opening their body to see the ball the entire time, do not turn your back to the ball.
3. Head up after preforming the turn so can get to goal.
Progressions:
-Speed of movement.
-Players can knock the ball away from others as they are trying to grab a ball.

Organization:
-2, 20 x 15yd grids.
-2 teams, set up as shown.
-4 PUG goals.
Instructions:
-Play 2v1 to goal.
-Defenders start with ball and pass to attackers.
-Players can only pass back or sideways.
-Attackers dribble at defender, if cannot beat defender, turn and play your partner.
-If defenders win the ball, scorein the counter attack goals.
Coaching Points:
1. Don't force the ball forwards, let to turn and keep the ball.
2. Correct technique even under pressure.
3. Do not give up on the play. If you lose the ball, try to win it back.
Progressions:
-Must get over halfway line before shooting.

-2, 20 x 20yd fields.
-3 different colored vests.
-4 PUG goals.
-Cones marking out of bounds.
Instructions:
-No restrictions. Play 3v3 to goal.

2.Find moments in the game when a turn would be the right choice.

Organization:
-One cone and one ball per player - in a circular formation - approx 15yd in diameter
-Player stand behind cone with ball facing toward middle of circle
Instructions:
-Players execute ball mastery patterns as demonstrated by coach
Coaching Points:
-Bounce/hop while manipulating ball - move in rhythm
-Light on toes
-Turn hips and body in direction of ball's destination
Progressions:
-Simple rhythmic movements
-Simple ball manipulations
-Pullback - with variations
-Players must change pattern as coach changes
