3v2 Constant Attack (30 mins)

Organization:

As above

Instructions: 10 mins

3v2 game where the defender passes the ball and then go pressure the three attacking players. Attacking team needs 2 passes or have each player touch the ball before shooting.

Progression: King Louis (20 mins)

2 teams set up with two 18 yard boxes. Use width of 18 yard bow and length will be 36 yards with the half at 18 yards. Play 5 vs 2 with the 5 having a three touch max and the 2 having unlimited. The 5 cannot cross into the other grid, nor can the 2. Goal is to create scoring chances from the 18 with combination plays either with each other or going to their strikers to get set passes. They can of course look to play their strikers in for opportunities as well.

Progression:

- use a combination to enter the other half

- you can enter the attacking half if your first touch can get you into that half

Coaching Points:

-spacing depth and width in the 18 to keep possession and set up lanes to shoot

- speed of play

- communication for set passes

- head up and find the passing lane (through ball)

- play to feet or into space.

- recognizing numbers up (5v2) and exploiting it

Attacking/ Defending Transition Game (30 mins)

Organization:

As above

Instructions:

This is a transition game between attacking and defending. To start the game: the yellow player will start in the middle of the grid and pass a ball to the red player. Upon passing the ball the red player attacks and attempts to score in the big goal while the yellow player tries to regain possession. After the red player shoots on goal, they become a defender and a yellow player dribbles into the field of play to create a 2v1 against red and they attack. Upon scoring or shooting, a red player dribbles into the field of play and now it's a 2v2 and after the shot has been taken, a yellow player dribbles into the field of play to create a 3v2 attack. After the shot has been taken, all players leave the field and we restart again.

*In this entire sequence, if the defender wins the ball, they pass the ball through the two yellow gates for a point. After winning the ball and passing in through the gate, the sequence continues with a player joining in to create an advantage for their team.*

Progressions:

- After the 1v1, players entering must make a pass into their teammate to join and cannot just dribble into the play

-Could go beyond 3v2 to have a 3v3, 4v3 or more.

Coaching Points:

- Anticipation and awareness of space and quickly attack

- Point of attack (dribble at the defender or dribble at a diagonal to attack space created)

- Recognizing numbers up (2v1) and exploiting it

- Draw the defender by dribbling and pass or exploit open space
