5v5 change channel game (If enough space!)
split the full pitch in quarters; and set up a 5v5 pitch in each. If there are goalkeepers then set up shooting circles (with flat lines) to suit. If no goalkeepers, small circles - players need to touch the ball inside the small circle to score.
Game is a normal 5v5 with the exception that if the team in possession change channel before they score, they get an extra point.
NB! Obvious thing that happens when you change channels is that you lose connections with the players ahead of the ball; so you may wish to explore with players how they lead; and perhaps even reward particular leads.

4v4 with no pass back
The idea is for players to keep thinking about how they can get additonal players ahead of the ball, but also what action the player on the ball can take to ensure that they do not run out of attacking options.
Games starts with a feed to two players who have to contest possession - whoever secures the ball attacks the goal with the GK in black.
The other 3 (attacking players) have to lead ahead of the ball.
NB! Player in possession cannot pass back to one of the support players (may have to think whether other 3 defensive players are allowed to tackle initial player in possession)
On turnover, what was the defensive team can now score in the opposite goal - emphasise the 'get ahead' through the score line (everyone has to be inside when ball goes in). No pass back rule stays in place.
NB! through your questioning, really force players to think about:
- how they can create attacking passes through their leads
- how they can maintain players ahead of the ball through movement with ball

Essence:
Changing circumstances create different actions.Put them in these situations.
Structure:
Games 4 vs 4. Before each of 3 min games give them the score they enter the game with. So it can be 2-0 for blue and the only have 3 mins to change the outcome.
Pointers:
1. To be fair don't start the same team with a negative score.
2. Be clear what you want as a coach in what phase?! (up 3 mins to go/ down 3 mins to go)
3. Can also have a player off or goalie off.
Variation:
3vs3. 5vs5.
Change the size of the field!

Variable numbers game (15 mins)
Small Unit Play - Varibale numbers game
Set Up:
2 small pitches using the baseline and halfway line. Goals at either end (need to set up circles with flat lines [not in picture]). Put balls down the sidelines and baseline to continue the flow of the game.
Teams gain players through 'good behaviour'; lose players through poor behaviour
Poor Behaviour :
- carry into contact
- easy turnover
- stick tackle
-poor work rate
Good behaviour:
-eg. hard, late leads
- good work rate
- balance in tackle
- pass and get ahead
-maintain possession
-goal scored
Game starts as a 4v2, and go to a maximum of 5v5; and minimum of 2v2. Teams can earn players through 'good behaviour' but lose players through poor behaviours.
Good Behaviours:
- drive to space
- getting ahead of the ball
- score (?)
Poor Behaviours:
- sloppy execution of skill (passing; trapping etc)
- driving into contact (when no need)
- workrate poor (not getting ahead)
Make sure we keep score.
