Un-opposed (10 mins)

Organization:

3 Players, 1 ball, 1 tall cone to act as a defender.

Instructions:

First player dribbles toward the cone, beating them with an Inside Outside before passing to the player opposite and following their pass. Next player does the same and the sequence continues.

Coaching Points:

- Controlled approach (pinky toe to dribble, touch ball on every step)

- Head up, see where the defender is.

- Begin the move at the correct distance from the defender.

- Quality of the move (Weight and direction of the two touches, use of upper body to emphasise the fake)

- Accelerate out of the move

- Head up, connect with partner and play a good quality pass.

Progressions:

- Practice with both feet.

- Competition between all the groups.

Semi-opposed (5 mins)

Organization:

3 Players, 1 ball, 1 stall cone to act as a defender.

Instructions:

Player A begins with the ball and passes it to player B then becomes a passive defender. B dribbles at A and beats him with an Inside Outside and plays a pass into player C. Meanwhile player A continues their run to the opposite endline. Player C passes to player A and the sequence starts again.

Coaching Points:

- Quality of first touch (straight toward defender's front foot)

- Controlled approach (pinky toe to dribble, touch ball on every step)

- Head up, see where the defender is.

- Begin the move at the correct distance from the defender.

- Quality of the move (Weight and direction of the two touches, use of upper body to emphasise the fake)

- Accelerate out of the move

- Head up, connect with partner and play a good quality pass.

Progressions:

- Practice beating the defender on either side.

- Introduce the Inside Scissors as an alternative.

Fully opposed (5 mins)

Organization:

1. Area as shown (20x20)

2. Two teams of 3 players

3. Gates width: 3 yds

Instructions:

1. One team attacks first

2. Player dribbles towards defender and attempts to beat him with a move

3. If attacking player dribbles the ball (control) through gates they receive:1 pt

4. If defending player wins the ball, they attempt to score by shooting into goals

5. After 1 min, teams switch sides and roles (defending to attacking & viceversa)

Coaching Points:

1. Dribble towards defender at speed

2. Perform move 2 steps before defender(timing)

3. Accelarate past defender into open space

4. Be creative while attempting to beat defender

5. Attempt moves previously worked on if possible
