Cross ball + Awareness warm up (15 mins)

Servers start as shown, GKs on points of triangle.

Servers will hand feed serve for high ball. Servers serve ball for GK to claim. GK should then land and overarm face throw to opposite server. Throw must have a clear line of sight to receiver.

KEYS

GK should not move before ball is thrown and had time to assess the flight of the ball

GK should have awareness of where the other working goalkeeper is and not to collide - Communication between GKs as to who will move first (no pre agreements as ball flights may be different)

GKs should move using speed, power and in straight lines where possible

Upon landing the goalkeeper should step forward with non landing leg to create momentum for any further collision that may occur in games

GK should move quickly to attain a clear line of sight of the other server to throw the ball to them

GK then moves to other start point, sets and goes again!

Technical Crossing and Awareness Drill (15 mins)

Continuous Crossing and Quick Distribution Practice

Each player without a ball has two bibs - Red / Green

Wide man starts with ball - nudges then crosses ball into box

GK must claim and then assess options - if a green bib is raised, GK can pass or throw ball to them / red bib raised, GK cannot pass ball to them

Outfield players are in game relevant positions for a 4-4-2 formation breaking out after claiming a high ball. GK must claim and find a player holding their green bib aloft

Once a player has the ball they should recycle the ball and get it into a wide area to repeat the process. Aim for players recycling the ball is to move the goalkeeper around his box so that when a cross is to be played, that they are set in position ready to play!

KEYS

GK should not move before ball is thrown and had time to assess the flight of the ball

GKs should move using speed, power and in straight lines where possible

Upon landing the goalkeeper should step forward with non landing leg to create momentum for any further collision that may occur in games

GK should assess his 4 possible options whilst also trying to think who would be the best person to give the ball to - game relevant positions? Are they good positions taken up by the player?

Is the type of distribution correct?

Technical Crossing with Opposition (20 mins)

Technical Crossing and Distribution with Opposition

Wide man should dribble and cross, weighing it in goalkeepers favour to claim. If GK claims, reds should explode to get the ball and try to receive ball from Goalkeeper. Match realism so greens can press and attack ball as they see fit. If ball is crossed and goes out of play, GK should get ball from goal and play from there as if he claimed the ball so players should be switched on all of the time.

KEYS

Can reds use same movements as previous technical to good efffect and get ball?

Can GK take balls under pressure, make good decisions if cannot catch etc
