Technical Passing (7-10mins)
Split your team in half, half on the outside and the others in the middle with a ball.
Objective: Players in the middle with ball find one on the outside without a ball and pass to them. As soon as you pass, receive the ball back and find another player to pass to on the outside. After a few minutes, switch roles.
Progression 1: Outside players with the ball, inside player calls for the ball, receives it and passes it back & find another outside pass.
Progression 2: Pass to outside player and switch with them upon passing.
Progression 3: Pass to outside player, open up at a different angle and receive the pass by asking for it as you find different area (combination pass).
Coaching Points:
When passing -- have body over the ball, plant foot next to the ball in the direction of your target/pass, lock your ankle, look at the ball, strike the ball in the back middle of the ball and follow through to your target. Know depth of your pass (speed/strength).
When receiving -- line up with the ball, open hips with ball as it approaches, heal down/toe up, relax on contact with the ball and in the direction you need to go. Make sure to check your shoulders before receiving specifically when finding different angle of receiving and pass.

Tactical Passing (8-12mins)
Objective: Teams score in the squares after making x amount of passes (coaches choose the number). After making x amount of passes, teams can then score in any of the squares by making a pass to another teammate who receives it in the grid. Teams DO NOT have to immediately pass into the corner, but rather work their way there. Players cannot stay in the squares just waiting for a pass. Head in AFTER the passes required have been made. After scoring in one square, go score in another. They cannot score in same square consecutively.
Prog 1: If players perform a combination pass, they can score right away.
Prog 2: Teams cannot score on squares near one another but rather look to switch fields and point of attack!
Coaching Points:
Decisive decision making -- take chances and opportunities!
Can you make quick passes to feet in the direction you are headed?
Head up to see the passes available to you!
Are you able to change directions depending on the opposing team?
Communicate with your teammates by providing information to them, on or off the ball!
Instead of bunching up or taking space from your teammate, create said space by opening up, checking away from the ball/play!

Scrimmage: 7v7
In Game Structures:
Kickoff -- to be done in the center of the field, wherever the coaches deem the halfway point.
Goal Kicks -- Ball is placed on 6-yard line and opposing team MUST retreat to their own half of the field. Attacking team can have their outside defenders to either side of goalie who can pass to them.
Corner Kicks -- taken on opposing teams corner. Defending team cannot be less than 6yrds from the individual taking the corner kick. Corner can be passed into the box, another teammates can stand next to the ball or be creative with the set play.
Throw Ins -- Both feet must be on the ground, no jumping to throw -- correct this if you see it -- even after ball is thrown (can drag non plant toe for more distance); ball must go behind your head and then thrown over but cannot go across your body while facing another way; feet cannot be inside the area of play; ball cannot be shoved.
Free Kicks: Indirect means ball must be touched by another teammate before you can shoot on goal. Direct means you can shoot on goal. If a player is inadvertently fouled, call a free kick and explain to the player why you are calling the infraction. Adding a wall is up to each coach as we do not want players to get hurt at this level. Explain that the wall can prevent the attacking team from scoring.
Penalty Kicks: Free kick that occurs in the box. Ball to be placed 8-10 steps from the goalie line. Goalie must remain on their line until shot is taken.
One Sided Goal Preventions: Use these to prevent lopsided scores!!
1. If a team is winning by more than 5, the winning team takes off a player while the losing team adds one.
2. Winning team has to make 3 passes in their own half and 3 more in the opponents half prior to shooting.
3. Every person on the team, including the goalie, must touch the ball.
4. Player(s) who keep scoring must use their non-dominant foot to dribble, pass and score.
