Session Details
The objectives of the SSG are the same as the general practice to play through, around or over the opposition to score. I will be coaching the REDS making sure that they follow what we worked on. The Blues will be managed. Once a team scores the opposition will restart from their goalkeeper.
Challenge, conditions & Targets
1. Players must try to break the lines of the opposition by threading split passes through the central area. RED team will score 3 goals for splitting the opposition players, 2 for playing over and 1 goal for playing around.
2. Limited touches in possession.
3. Time limit to score
Key points
In possession
1. Make the pitch big (Width and depth)
2. Use limited touches and move the ball quickly
3. Try to play in ares that allow you to see both ends of the pitch.
4. Play through, around or over the opposition based on the pressure on the ball.
Out of possession
1. Stay Narrow
2. Prevent split passes
3. Protect the space in behind
4. Block passing lanes

Depending on the type of pressure being applied can we utilise our keeper to keep possession and draw them opposition out so we have more space to play through the centre, the keepers higher start position is allowing the Reds to use him a an extra CB which then allows the CB to play wider and allow our CDM more space in which to operate in. Once they break that first line can we find the spare man in midfield allowing our attacking players to play behind the lines and receive on the back foot with an open body position ready to expose the back 3 of the blue team.

If the Blues are forcing our team to play deeper by blocking our easier passing lanes can we exploit the long pass over their midfield and behind their back three or can we find the free man on the wings, this potentially eaves us with a 4 v 3 if our midfield runners know what to expect in these situations.
The Blue team will be encouraged to play a high line and apply full pressure on the CB and goalkeeper to see if they can force them in to making a mistake. How good are they under pressure.

Organisation / Area Size
Area Size 18mtr x 12 mtr with a half way line
Football behind the Yellow outside players
4 x Blue, 4 x Red and 2 x Yellow and 1 x white bibs
4 x 2 min with time set aside for terminal feedback in the breaks.
The Session Details
4v4 in the middle with 2 x Yellow outside (keepers) and 1 x white Common player
Team in possession try and play through the opposition and score by transferring the ball from one end yellow player to the other. If they are successful they can maintain possession of the ball. Teams in possession can use the yellow/white common players that creates a 7 v 4. I will be coaching the RED team in possession and will be managing the BLUE team and will be putting conditions on them if the are having to much success in possession e.g time limit, number of touches.
Key points RED team in possession
1. Make the pitch big (Width and Depth)
2. Try to play through, around and over
3. Can we move the ball quicker
4. Can we entice the defender to create more space to go forward
5. Look to play forward
6. Receive on the half turn, on the back foot, check shoulders
Blue Team will be managed out of possession
1. Defend narrow
2. Force out wide
3. Protect the middle
4. Prevent split passes
Conditions, Challenges and Targets RED team
As we are integrating the goalkeeper in to our session they will be our outside yellow common player and we will be working on their distribution. We are looking to encourage them to play either around, through or over depending with what restriction we place upon them.
Progression / Regression
1. More time on the ball 4 sec before they have to pass the ball.
2. Two touch (Can they scan before the ball has arrived)
3. Extra 2 points if the can play through the middle.
4. Extra 3 points if they can play a direct pass.
5. Can they play short then break lines on their first touch
