Set up 7-cones into 2-Diamonds inside a 40yd x 50yd area. Position a player on each cone and highlight the "Soccer Number" of that position.
i) Rotation 1: Ball starts with Player #5. Pass the ball (2-touch) through the following sequence;
5 - 4 - 6 - 5 - 3 - 10 - 6 - 8 - 2 - 4.
ii) Rotation 2: Ball starts with Player #4. Pass the ball (2-touch) through the following sequence;
4 - 5 - 6 - 4 - 2 - 8 - 6 - 10 - 3 - 5.
iii) Encourage check out/check in, head check, calling for the ball, etc. from warm up
iv) Encourage 1-touch when possible and time the sequence. IE, improve speed of play
Rotate players every 2-min.
Adv.
- Add 3-defenders (7v3) to press and win the ball. Attackers must stay within 3-yds of their cone
- Add 2-more defenders (7v5) to press and win the ball. Attackers free movement.
- Make possession directional. ADD targets at either end to receive the ball and neutral wide players offering width. 7-players attack EZ1 while 5-Players attack EZ2
Coaching Points
1) Maintain Shape: Formation Solid - Ball Movement Fluid.
2) Awareness: SEE the next pass, PREPARE for the next pass, EXECUTE the next pass.
3) Technique: Individual ability to be a positive LINK in the CHAIN of possession. Also improvise if necessary when under defensive pressure.

Using 2/3 of a field, set up 10-attacking players as shown above in a 4-3-3 and a goalkeeper in the big goal opposite. Run through the passing sequences from Activity One a few times to goal, including the #7, #9 & #11 with crossing and finishing. Work on runs into the box..
i) Introduce 3-defenders playing to counter goals; IE 10 v 4. Play starts with Coach playing CB's
ii) Introduce 2-more defenders playing to counter goals; IE 10 v 6.
Coaching Points
1) Possess with Purpose: Is attacking team looking to penetrate whenever possible?
2) Speed of Play: Is attacking team moving the ball quickly? Are they disciplined in their positional roles and maintaining attacking principles? Are they timing their runs?
3) Patience: When penetration is not possible, is the attacking team recognizing that and recycling the ball?

Warm Up (15 mins)
16-Players set up as above, 10-yds apart.; 1-ball per group.
i) Player A passes to Player B and follows pass.
ii) Player B receives the ball, turns & passes to Player C following his pass.
iii) Player C receives the ball and repeats the process.
REPEAT
Adv,
1) Have players close down the ball when they follow their pass (act as defender), but not tackle.
2) Encourage Player B to receive the ball on the half-turn and on his front foot.
3) Encourage Player B to play 2-Touch.
4) Encourage Player B to check TOWARDS the ball, thus receiving it sooner, using his body to shield and creating more space in front to use the ball.
5) Encourage Player C to receive with a change-of-angle touch sideways before passing back into Player B.
Coaching Points
1) Field Awareness: How good is Player B's movement, head check and communication?
2) Technique: How good is Player B's body preparation, 1st touch, body shield and passing?
3) Realistic Rhythm: Does the passing & moving flow well? Does the pace increase to near game speed?
