Objective: improve our ability to press in a 1-3-4-3 formation.
Organization: 1/2 field. Big goal + 2 small counter goals placed 5 yards outside of center circle on either side.
Instruction: ball starts with a goalkick. The Pressing team must organize defensively based on coaching tactics. The build up team can only score in the goal on the opposite side the goalkeeper passes the ball to. Therefore they must switch it to score. If pressing team wins the ball they can counter attack and score. They have 5 seconds.
Variations: Have the pressing team start with the ball and they have 5 seconds to score. (2) Have midfielder on build-up team start with the ball but they have to go back to goalkeeper first.
Coaching Points:
1. Force the play to the outside
2. Find the free player
3. If the pressure is broken recover behind the ball at speed.
