Receiving ball side-on and score

Organisation

Red player runs around the outside of the cones, accelerating at the turn and receiving the ball from the wide player. Then the player runs into the circle and takes a shot at goal. 

Alternate sides. Players return to the start via the middle of the cones. 

Intention

Technical shaping around receiving on the move and hitting at goal.

Continuing the go forward on receipt of pass.

Observations 

- When receiving the ball, players should be pointing in the direction of the goal. Not turned towards the ball.

- On the left, the ball should passed in front of the player to the front foot.

- On the right, the ball should be passed to the back foot.

Progression

2-v-1 will be created. A high defender will be kept in the D. Once the ball has been received as per normal, a second attacker will run up to create a 2-v-1 against the keeper. Defender has to drive the ball over the 25 yard line.

Intention

Hold the ball up in attack to create a 2-v-1 situation and increase goalscoring opportunities.
