4v2 Posession in Picture Frame

Small sided Activity (15min)

14x14 yellow cones. take 4 steps diagonally outward from each corner so blue is 18x18.

4v2 but attackers must play in the border of the field between the yellow cones and the blue cones.

the defenders have to wait until the attackers pass the ball out OR they intercept a pass in the middle.

The attackers should try to stay out of the corners because they only have a 90degree angle to pass from there. BUT they should Shift to the side to create a 180degree ange for the man with the ball, as seen in the above diagram.

talk about category of passes.

category 1 passes (safe, wide, defenders have NO WAY to take it)

***we want to play these and move whenever possible***(like in warm up when we avoided obstacles and played to open space.

category 2 passes. risky passes that go NEARBY defenders. if we are getting closed down we may have to play one of these, or if we play QUICK enough the defender may not be ready for it.

category 3 passes. Passes that SPLIT the defenders. this is Our ultimate goal. Get the players very excited to SPLIT the defenders (they are learning to play penetrating passes, this is a great way to implement such play)

tell the attackers that if they can split the defenders, they can make the defenders DEFEND AGAIN if they split them. the defenders will work very hard not to get split.

Receive the ball facing the field, pass and move, attack empty spaces, communicate, awareness of open spaces on the field.

3v3+6 to gates

Small sided Activity (15min)

30x30yds

3 Blues, 3 Oranges 3 Greens 3 Reds. 3v3 in middle. with 6 guys out wide (8 if numbers allow). Teams on posession score through the gates. Every 10 points looser team must exit out and the neutrals on the outside begin with possession. outside player who completed the most passes gets to start with the ball next game. outside players can move anywhere they like outside the grid. outside player with fewest completed passes has to sprint with losing team.

Cp's- Constant communication, sharp passing, receiving and moving, move into empty spaces to provide support, be aware of spacing and timing on and off the ball.

2+6 vs 4

the 2 on the inside work to keep the ball with the six who play OUTSIDE the grid. outside players may play to one another.

the 4 on the inside work together to win the ball then once they do. must complete 4 passes then find a wide guy to get out of the middle. Those 4 greens then become outside players, so do the two blues.

the outside players all come to the inside, the 4 blues are the defenders inside, and the 2 greens are the two central midfielders inside.

Coaching Points:

play lots of give and gos.

communicate.

pass to feet.

movement to support on outside.

play category 1 passes to set up for the category 3 pass.

split the defenders and they all have to do 5 knees to chest at the end.

other two players are goalkeepers. every 3 points and we rotate. losing team off. score into wide goals for 1 point. score on a goalie for 5 points. offsides enforced.

use all of the space. losing team sprints before next game starts.

U10 may have to do 5v5+1 add bumpers or increase numbers of teams.
