Initial Game (20 mins)

Setup:

  • 35 x 20 Area
  • 10 to 12 players (2 as goal keepers) split into 2 teams with one team with more players
  • 2 goals
  • Pinnies

How to Play:

  • Both teams of players play in the center 15 - 20 yard area on every restart. The team with higher numbers of players must get 5 consecutive passes before a player can dribble into the final third and try to score. They can score on either goal.
  • The pressing team playing with fewer players can try to score on either goal as soon as they win the ball.
  • If the ball goes out of play the play restarts with the coach passing to a player on the team with larger numbers.
Progression:
  • When a player breaks out to score, a pressing player can defend and win the ball
  • Another player can support when the ball carrier breaks out to goal. A second defender can also enter the final third to prevent a goal
Coaching Points:
  • Opening up to receive the ball and touch in the direction of goal
  • Creativity and skill on 1v1
  • Finishing with different parts of foot
  • Eye on the ball when striking the ball to finish
  • Body over the ball when striking the ball in the centre to keep the ball low
