Breaking Lines: Passing & Receiving Progression
Organization: 12 x 20 yards; 6 Players
Progression:
Start off with live pressure. So players can see the necessity of the acquired skills. Use progression V.
I. A Dribbles and passes with outside of foot to B. As B is receiving, C is opening up at an angle with hips open. As B plays C they say "Turn" C then Plays D and does give and go. D dribbles to back of line. A > B > C > < > D
II. A dribbles and passes with outside of foot to B. As B is receiving, C is checking at an angle as if a man was on her. As B plays back foot of C they say 'man on' who lays it off and spins. B plays D and C checks to perform given and go with D who then dribbles to back of line. A > B > < C B > D > < C
III. A dribbles and passes with outside of foot to B. As B is receiving, C is checking at an angle. As B plays back foot of C they say "man coming" which signals that the player can turn quickly. C stops the ball dead and bends it with inside or outside of foot to whichever side D checks to. C then performs give and go with D.
IV. Decision making. B says one of the three, "turn, man on, or man coming" and C has to perform the action.
V. Add pressure by adding a player in the activity. The player will be a defender behind C and will be called C1. C will then become C1 and C1 will then become D.
