4v4 Rondo
Players try to work the ball from one side of the square to the other through the playing area
Points scored every time the ball gets across successfully: 3 points without using middle players, 1 point if using middle pass
If defending team intercept ball, they begin their count. If a receiving player misses the ball, hits a foot, they lose the ball
Chat about roles for 2v2 in the square as well as roles of players on the outside
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Hockey images.
4v4
Attackers play the ball around the area attempting to complete a pass through the small circle for 5 points. No players are allowed in the smaller square
If Defenders win the ball, they have to drive around an outside cone and then become attackers
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Hockey images.
2v1 Baseline + 1v1 = 3v2
D1 passes hard, flat pass to 1 who leads and plays (if possible) a one-touch pass to 2 who leads from T-points to collect ball
1+2 v D1 (who has dropped in to defend with GK)
As soon as this game ends, D2 passes ball to leading 3 then drops in to join D1 for a 3v2 game
Defenders/GK get points if they get ball ball to Defenders X

3V1 Continuous
2 teams (doesn't matter if numbers not even) with 2 goals and 2 GKS
Use 1/8th of pitch, make pitch narrower on the sides (safety zones) and balls behind each baseline
Team of 3 starts from baseline with one ball, Defending team has one player (3v1)
If attacking team score OR the defender gets a touch of the ball, ALL players clear the pitch, except one of the ex-attackers, who now becomes the one defender
3 new blue attackers come on to play against 1 orange defender.
Keep score throughout
Coaching Focus:
ATTACK: Getting ahead of play/ Giving ball into space/ Utilise number advantage/ Lead wide and high/ Get into scoring positions/ Don't carry into conflict
DEFENCE: Work with GK (encourage GK chat here)/ Body position to cut pitch / Just a touch needed to break down play
Conditioned Games to finish- encourage getting ahead of the ball carrier. If a player gives a pass and gets ahead and receives the ball back they win 1 point for their team. Try play half pitch games.

3v3 with outlet players
3 Teams with one team as neutral wall-pass players on outside of pitch
If odd numbers, nominate a Joker player who plays for the team in possession and cannot tackle
Players may shoot in either goal but defending team has to pass the ball first or change goals if the GK makes a save and the defender picks it up (they cannot shoot off a rebound)
Players must use their outlet players to change angle of attack, create overload etc
Outlet players may not tackle anyone on the pitch
Outlet players must play the ball back to the team who passed them the ball
Change outlet team after every 3 goals (winning team stays on)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Hockey images.
Continual 3v2.
Yellow Team starts with 3 attackers and blue starts with 2 defenders. Play until goal/hit-out/16. If defending team win ball, they can counter.
Once play breaks down, two blue defenders become attackers with new blue player driving into the pitch with ball to become third attacker. 3 yellow players go off and two new defenders come onto the pitch.
Coaching Points
Be ready to join straight away and start on the pitch (defenders) to get into aggressive positions.
Attacking
- create 2v1 straight away
- think about different leads, loop and slide leads
- score scrappy goals
Defending
- move ball away from danger
- shape of two to protect the middle and force wide
- stay in the tackle
- GKs lots of chat and aggressive in goals

Team A pass ball to Team B who try to get to shoot at goal X
Team A try to use numbers advantage (3v2) to turn over Team B and counter towards goal Y where there is a 2v2. Game is now 5v4. If defending Team B gain possession, they try to score in Goal X.
Game is played out until ball goes dead and then restarted on the opposite side of the field.
After 5 minutes, teams change sides

4 v 4 in the playing area. Extra players from each team stand on the end lines. These players can be passed to during the game.
Rules- no hitting at goal only push/flick and sweeps for deflections. If the defensive team win the ball after the attacking team has shot they cannot straight away shoot at that goal, they must make on pass before they can shoot.
Teams can shoot at either goal.
Focus is on defence, It will be busy and chaotic. Man to man mark and be tight on your player- goal side! Shouldn't really have to change/pass on players. Apply pressure and force opposition to pass back or go to the other goal. Be ready for rebounds off the goalie!
Play for 4 mins then swap teams in. Can be 3v3 if numbers low.
