Rondo 4v1
Set up: 10x10 / 8x8 Square.
1 Ball
5 Players (1 Defender in the middle)
Players on the line, assigned a number or role represntative of position (i.e. No. 5 / CB)
Player Objectives:
Defender focus:
* Recognising player body shape to where the ball may go.
* Question: Can you find ways of making the players pass the way you want them to?
* Question: What ways can you stop the ball being played across the sqaure?
* Question: How can you work together to stop passes across the square?
* Receive back foot where possible (or Recieve furthest foot from defender if not)
* Play two touch
* Players to stay on the line / just inside
* Player on the left and right to be at supporting positions/angels level with defender for player on the ball
* If defender wins the ball then player who lost possesion switches

Running with the Ball / Through balls to attack quickly
Set Up:
* 60 x 30 Area
* 2, 10 x 30 end zone areas
* 8/9s Player, 1 ball
Instructions:
* Play starts in the end zone, 3v2.
* One player breaks out to the other area and is pursued by a recovering defender.
* if a defensive team wins the ball they break to the opposite area.
Objectives:
* Timing of the run
* Pass or run with the ball?
* Quick passing and combinations to exploit space
Challenges:
* what different ways can we find to play into space for a player to run onto the ball
* how far do I push the ball out of my feet?
* who to pass to and when to pass?
* Communication - call a name, a place, indicate with hand.
Progression:
* 2 balls
* Play 1 or two touch
* Play quickly to the opposite end and then srpint to join in and support the players

Counter Attacking From Deep - (Attacking Quickly after a Regain from the Defensive Third)
Set Up:
* 60 x 40 Area
* 2 goals
* 2 - 10 x 40 end zones
* 1 ball in play
* Pitch split into wide and central areas
Instructions:
* Ball starts with the keeper and plays out from the back
* DF either can pass into attacker and join in or run with the ball into the other half.
Objectives:
* When the Defending team regain possession, look to penetrate quickly.
* DF’s to be patient in attempting to regain possession, look to keep solid shape looking for the attacking team to make an error.
* Pressure applied – Where? When? How? - Pressing – Challenging - Intercepting
* Look to play into space when possible instead of playing to feet if possible.
* Exploit space quickly (run or dribble/pass)
*Quick passing and combinations to exploit space (one touch/long pass)
*Support play must be instant to counter attack and exploit the space left by the opponents who have attacked.
Challenges:
Individual
* Try and play in behind defence as a first option.
* If it’s not on to play in behind try to play to furthest forward option.
* Try and get into a position to intercept the ball then to play forward.
Team
* Pressure, cover, balance.
* Try to screen passes
* Patience and compactness
* Try to defend over no more than 2 areas if possible
* Try to attack using all 3 areas if possible.

* Each player with a ball
Instructions:
* Players perform a ball manipulation skill
* Either players perform a skill and break into a new space then continue and repeat
or players perform skilland upon coaches call 'break!' players accelrate into a new space and continue skill.
