Organization:
- For U9 and U10 we contonue to focus on individual technical work but are now starting to incorporate more passing amongst players before the game starts to reflect how we want the game to be played at this age
- Instead of just one activity during the warmup we will now have two or three different activities and the order is represented by the number in the session above
Instructions:
1) The dribbling warm-up remains the same as listed in the U7-U8 session. Touches on the ball using different surfaces of the foot in an area where they will be forced to change direction and keep an eye out for other players
2) Players go into the grid, half with soccer balls and the other half without. The players are moving inside the grid and players without a ball are calling for a pass. Passing and moving inside the grid focusing on receiving on our back foot, taking a positive first touch or away from the defender, and communicating for the ball
OR
2b) Depending on the ability of the group, they can do a 3v0 and then 3v1 rondo after the individual technical warmup. Focus on players moving in angles to support teammates, players receiving across their body onto the backfoot, and communication and good, strong passes

Instructions: The offensive players must pass the ball before scoring. They may not cross the center line. If the defense wins the ball they can shoot on the open goal. Switch the offense and defense every 3-5 min. Also ensure all players are playing keeper.
Coaching Points: Work on spacing having the players not get too close together.
Teach communcation (Give and Go, square ball, through ball, etc).
Teach Recovery that eveyone must attack and defend as a team
Work on finishing and make the players aware to raise their head so they know where the defense, keeper and their teamate is located.

-Every Player with ball in 20x30 grid
Instructions:
STEP I:
-Players dribble using Messi touches and Ronaldo touches, choosing the correct time for each, ie close spaces using messi touches, open space using ronaldo touches.
-After a few minutes, a challenge is introduced. Players now race to 50+ touches using Messi, Ronaldo, or a combination of the two.
STEP II.
-Players dribble throughout area using any part of foot and wait for different commands
1) Change - Players leave their ball and find a new one to dribble with
2) Out - Players dribble as quickly as they can to the edge of the field
3) In - Players dribble as quickly as they can around the coach, keeping close control of the ball

-Keep the ball close when in crowded areas (can you take a touch every step you take)
-If a player sees a good area of space, then they can take bigger touch/accelerate into it
-Use correct dribbling technique (pinky toe touches, knee over ball)
Progressions:
-If players lose the ball outside of the area, or hit another player/ball they lose 10 points in the race to 50.
