Kick The Coach (10 mins)
"Kick The Coach"
Overview
Kick The Coach is an engaging soccer drill designed to enhance young players' shooting skills. Here's a detailed description:
1. Setup: Set up a relatively small square area. Each player has a soccer ball. The coach is the moving target, without a ball.
2. Objective: Players have 45 seconds to try to hit the coach with their ball. The coach actively dodges the balls, adjusting the difficulty based on the players' age and skill level.
3. Variations:
- Round 1 - Player vs. Player Competition: Each player aims to hit the coach. The player who hits the coach the most times within the time limit wins.
- Round 2 - Coach vs. All Players: As a team, players must hit the coach a predetermined number of times. Success is measured collectively.
- Round 3 - Skill Focus: Players can only kick the ball with the inside of their foot or must use their weaker foot, adding a skill-development component.
4. Adjustments: The coach should make it more or less challenging for the players to hit them, depending on the players' proficiency (age/ability).
This drill not only improves shooting accuracy but also adds fun and competition to the training session, keeping young players engaged and motivated.
