Set up:
2 teams divided up. If you have more than 10 players then you should do 2 grids so that players are standing as long. Attacking team is positioned on one end and the defending team on other. Starting cone (yellow cone) is about 5-7 yards away from 1st red cone. Gates are positoned on an angle so attackers can get through gates easier; gates are 10-15 yards apart. Gates are about 10-15 yards away from attackers and 5-10 yards away from defenders.
How It Works:
Coach yells go and attacking player (blue) and defender (red) start running around 1st cone. Attacker is trying to run through either gate and the defender is trying to touch them. If attacker gets through gate without being touched then attacking team gets a point. Attacker then goes to back of defending line and defender goes to attacking line.
Note: If attackers aren't having much success then make gets wider from each other and closer to attacker.
Progression:
Introduce ball. Attackers are now trying to dribble through gate without defender kicking ball away.
Keys:
1. Attack with speed (if you start too slowly then easy for defender to read fakes)
2. Believe in your move/fake
3. Watch defender in peripheral (once ball introduced) to see defenders reactions
4. Accelerate after fake
5. Protect ball (once ball introduced)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Setup:
In groups of 5-7 players. Cones are separated to represent defenders. Players will always need to dribble towards defender (i.e. if they go to the right, they will then need to go to left to stay inside the grid) - this forces players to use both feet. Cone set are 6-8 yards from each other and the goal is 15 yards from the last set.
How It Works:
Players aren't able to full accelearate until the last move. Players are encouraged to use both feet and touch step each step. They will perform the following dribbling moves:
1. Scissor
•Touch step with back bent over ball
•Scissor around ball with cleats close to ground, knees shouldn’t be straight
•Drop shoulder after scissor (on leg that did scissors)
•Take out forward and wide angle with opposite foot (very wide but forward which protects ball from defenders)
•Accelerate
2. The "L"
•Player pretends that they are going to kick ball with right foot
•Right foot toes pull ball back and hit behind support leg making an L shape
•Attacker goes with ball immediately after hitting ball
3. Fake Chop
•Dribble away to side of defender (opposite of where you want to go)
•Touch ball out in front
•Really fake shot by ensuring bottom (cleats) of kicking leg is pointed behind when lifting leg and opposite arm is in the air
•Support leg is behind ball so that when chopping motion hits ball, player can hit it across (not diagonally)
4. Maradona
•Dribble on an angle towards defender to create space
•To go to right side, dribble towards left side so right side is open:
right foot on ball, do 180 and switch feet, and do pull turn with left foot
5. Any move
•Players do realistic moves
Progression:
Players race and perform moves at pace, team with most goals wins. If the moves aren't done well or are too slow then the goal won't count. Next player in line must wait until player in front shoots before they can go.
Keys:
1. Attack with speed
2. Believe in your move and accelerate
3. Watch ball and defender
4. Do move 2-3 yards before defender
5. Use far foot to push ball past defender
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Set Up:
25-30 x 15-20 grid (adjust to your group). 4 v 4 in the middle, max of 5 v 5.
How it Works:
Players are matched up against another opponent. Only those matched up players can take the ball off each other. Players must make 3 passes before they can score. After 3rd pass, the player on ball is encouraged to take the player on because that defender is the only once who can stop him/her from scoring.
2-3 Minute games, winner stays on.
Progression 1:
Players can ONLY dribble forward, not pass forward.
Players no longer need 3 passes before they can score and players are still matched up.
2-3 Minute Games then rotate.
Progression 2:
Open game. Players can pass normally but receive a point if they beat a player and complete a pass right after it or get a shot off. Also obtain 1 point for scoring
Keys (General: Depth, Width, Improvisation, Mobility, Penetration):
1. Attack open space
2. Set up fake to space covered so that open space can become bigger
3. Attack with speed
4. Believe in your move and accelerate
5. Know where you are going to pass after dribbling
6. Do move 2-3 yards before defender.

Part 1
The course is made up of six pairs of parallel cones, approximately 6 yards apart. Two players start at
the same time from the first pair of cones, jog along the inside of the cones and do the various exercises on the way. After the last cone, they run back along the outside. On the way back, speed
can be increased progressively as players warm up.
1. Jog through 5 times
2. Hip out (groin movement) - 2 sets
3. Hip in (groin movement) - 2 sets
4. Circle partner - 2 sets
5. Jumping with shoulder contact - 2 sets
6. Quick forward and backwards sprints - 2 sets
