Yoga (5 mins)

  • Yoga - with welcome and focus points for today
    • Shoulder rolls, Left and Right 5x each side
    • Standing tall, with arms in 90deg, palms facing down, raise up the lower arm to, keeping upper arm close to body, rotate the lower arm, and lower it back down to 90deg.
    • Goddess legs - left count 5, right count 5, up-down (wide squats) 5x, then hold for 30 seconds
    • Raise up to standing, bring legs together

Lightning Runs (5 mins)

 

  • Lightning Runs - 'zig-zag' running, light a lightning bolt
    • Player A , and Player B, run clockwise in-and-out of the rest of the standing players, around the full circle,
    • When Player A and Player B return back to their original spot, the players to their left (eg: C & D) start their Lightning Runs;
    • Continue in groups of two, until all players have run three times.

Reaction Speed and Awareness (5 mins)

Sprint and Recovery



  • In pairs (roughly same height, and speed), hold each other's shoulders and "be on toes/ready"...
  • Listen for call of "Red" or "Blue" = Sprint to the corresponding cones, the winner is whoever picks up the cone

Coaching Points: 

  • Staying alert & focused (improving game concentration)
  • Running technique pointers = staying low in takeoff, sprint with "negative steps"

 

Progressions:

  • Sprint to retrieve a ball (resting on the cones), and then start a 3v3 with 2 goals

Rondo - Double 3v1 (10 mins)

3v1 Rondos - With 7 players. How many passes can the blues get without red touching or tackling?

 

  • The blue players pass the ball to each other in the area, they can use any part of their body, each pass is a point?
  • One player is in the middle of the circle attempting to touch or tackle the ball,
  • When the players in the middle tackle, they may attempt to shoot, or play the ball out. Rotate the players who last touched the ball and swap to the middle positions

Coaching Points:

 

  • outside players hold their positions as well as possible
  • Awareness of the central player's role in connecting play

 

Progressions: 
  • 1 ball, 
  • to 2 balls with Left side/Ride side separation, middle player plays both trios.

Recovery & Counter (10 mins)

Recover, attempt to tackle & turn over, and begin a new attack 

 

  •  A passes through the manequins for B to run on to and attempt to score past 3...
    • 1 and 2 sprint back and try to tackle B before he shoots...
    • If 1/2 recover the ball, they can:
      • pass back to 3, then move back into their wide areas (yellow) to receive a pass from 3, and then
      • run with the ball through one of the wide areas (yellow)
  •  

    • Progressions (add 2nd phase):
      • After passing to B, A can join B in the attack,
      • If 1 or 2 recover the ball, they can attack/run with the ball in the wide areas (yellow), and work with each other to try to score in one of the mini goals (counterattack) as A&B switch to recovery to attempt to stop 1&2 scoring
