3 v 1 Posiional Play (10 mins)

3 v 1 in appropiate size grid ( depending on skill level ). Player on the ball should always have two options, as the ball travels the players off the ball move to provide that option.

- Good passing and receiving techniques.

- Make defender commit one way, play the other.

- Good supporting angles

Rondo ( 3+3v3)

Teams divided into three teams by colors, two teams play together to maintain possession while the other defends, ten passes constitute a point. When the team defending wins the ball the team that gave up possession becomes the defending team. The numbers in this game can be easily manipulated by adjusting the field size.

- Movement off the ball, can we give the player with the ball two options? Can we move the defenders to hit the splitting/forward pass?

- Using space available, can we go short than long?

- Transition, how quickly can we switch from attack to defense and vice versa?

- Defensively can we apply pressure and take away the closest options?

Possession with Targets

Playing area is rectangular with the size depending on numbers and skill level, each team has a target on each end. Team is awarded a point for working ball across and playing ball to target, team receives ball back and goes in the opposite direction. Switch target players frequently as this a very taxing game.

- Maintain shape, width and depth

- Can we play the ball forward, split?

- Targets move across the line to make it easier to play the forward pass, opposing target player can not defend.

Possess/Score

Players divided into two teams with a mini goal on each side, one team begins the game by playing possession with 10 passes constituting a point when the defending team wins the ball they can attack any goal and try to score as quickly as possible. Play for 5 minutes and switch roles.

- Movement off the ball, take up good supporting positions

- Transition, how quickly can we change our mindset when we win/lose the ball?

Playing area marked out with cones, 1 ball to every three players. Players move freely and interpass within the area, after player makes pass they sprint around a cone come back in and demand ball. Looking to promote movement after the pass.
