Line-Ball

Organisation:

  • Players start opposite each other. 
  • On coaches command, the attacking player looks to dribble past the defender and stop the ball on the opposite line to score a point.
Modify:
  • Have defender play the ball to the attack to start the play.
Attacking Key Points:

  • Soft touches to get around defender
  • Big touches to get away from defender
  • Player with head up
  • Change of speed & direction to create space. 
Defending:
  • 'High to low' & 'Fast to slow' as you approach the ball
  • 'Surfer' pose, side on, bent knees

  • Players start opposite each other. 
  • On coaches command, the defender passes to the attacker who looks to dribble through either game as shown by the dotted white line.
  • Allow both teams an opportunity to attack and defend. 
Modify:
  • Have defender pass from the opposite side.

Race to the Ball

Organisation:

  • The first player to the ball scores to score in the opponents goal to earn a point for their team.
Modify:

Knock the Ball

Organisation:

  • Players start either side of the coach.
  • There are 6 balls, 3 of each side on top of cones as shown.
  • The coach starts the play by passing the ball onto the field, the players race to the ball, the attacker will look to knock down one of the opponents balls to score. 
Modify:
  • Place balls/cones randomly to get players to scan.
  • Modify distance depending on age/ability.

Organisation:

  • Players start on opposite ends as shown.
  • Each player is assigned a number.
  • When the coaches call that number the player sprints around the goal and onto the field. The coach plays to one of the players and they look to score in the opponents goal.

Opposite Facing Goals

Organisation:

  • Players start in the middle of the area. The coach can drop the ball between them or play it randomly within the area.

  • Attacking player looks to score in either goal. If first ball goes out, coach plays in a second ball until an attacker scores.
  • After 3 balls, these 2 players leave the area for the next 2 players.
Modify:
  • Use yellow gates as shown, attacker must dribbler through one gate before scoring. 
  • Change teams up if one team is winning a lot.
  • Move the goals to make players think/scan.
  • Make 2v2/3v3.
