1v1 defending - white team attacks for 2 minutes before changing to defenders - each team attacks and defends twice - goals for each team is opposite the attacking team.
1v1 defending - white team dribbles with ball to centre cone, turns and passes back - receiver attacks first touch and goes to score in goals opposite him - blue team dribbles turns and passes back but passes stays in to defend 1v1 against white opposition - all teams go at once (2 1v1s at same time) If defending team win ball back they transition to score in any goal
Objectives: aggressive defending - get to the opponent quickly - slow down on approach - can we force the ball away form danger?
Triggers to press - first touch, heavy touch, isolated in a corner
body shape - where do we show the opponent? which foot he is might dictate which side play goes to (bare in mind 2 goals to defend)

Triggers to press/compact shape
3 teams of 4 - aim is to encourage press and cover. Begin with one defending team, who stay as defenders for 2 minutes regardless of if they win the ball back - if they do win it, they dribble out as quickly as possible.
2 defenders go to press team with ball, other 2 defenders can screen side to side to stop ball being transferred to opposite side.
Objectives: Can we set triggers to press - force it to one side/ make play predictable?
Middle 2 - shift with ball - cut off any passing lanes ball side - screen the attackers on opposite side.
2 pressers - one presses, other covers the space - like a see-saw - stop the play going forward
Progression - If one middle player jumps to go press man nearest to him, opposite defender needs to tuck back in and wrap around to keep that compact shape in the middle.
