Method: In Game Build up - Patterns
Work the ball - Focus on quality of passing
Ball is fed into a centre back by the 6 who has dropped in between the centre backs
Centre back receiving switches the ball to opposite centre back who then plays into full back
Full back then plays the ball into midfielder, who plays the winger through - one touch if possible
Full back supports the winger
Midfielder involved makes run into the box along with centre forward, opposite winger makes back post run
Winger on the ball plays the ball into the box - Finish
Play switches sides after every phase of play
Coaching Points:
Quality of pass - firm
First touch needs to be positive in order to position body correctly for the pass
Body shape - Open and prepared to receive the ball on the back foot
Timing of the run for the winger, needs to be onside and not go too early/late
Communication on runs into the box - front post, middle, back post runs
Depending on numbers a second team can switch out between each 2 phases
7 mins - depending on numbers can swap out with other team / players every 2nd phase/play
