Set
Aim:
To get the GK's into a habit of moving around the goal and setting early for a shot what is either at them or very near to them
Instructions:
The drill will start with the GK & the C passing to each other, on command the GK will move around either the L or R post and return to be in front of the ball for the near shot
service is to be either at or close to the GK as we want them to try and stay on their feet as long as possible to stop a shot
Coaching points:
* Does the GK make a dive> Does he have to?
* GK to try and always get his body behind the ball when making the save
* GK to secure the ball 1st time - this is the most important part of this drill

Movement
Aim:
We need to have the GK's being able to move around the goalmouth and get into the correct position in order to receive any shot
Instructions:
On command the GK will move around the near post and then get in front of the ball for the shot. The GK must ensure he is positioned central to the ball in the goal. The GK will immediately get up and go around the post for the 2nd & 3rd shots
Coaching points:
* The GK is getting central to the ball
* The GK is watching the ball into his hands
* GK is setting early and is stationary at the time of the shot

Coaching points:
* Passes are not to be overweighted
* Passes to be targeted
* GK is on his toes when waiting to receive the ball
* GK is set back in the goal & is giving himself enough room to move forward and around the cones

Possession (20 mins)
Distribution:
Aim:
The aim of this drill is to get the GK's used to having the ball at their feet and while they are under pressure. They are going to have to look to see where they can pass the ball to and decide on movements to assist their team mates
Instructions:
Team A:Orange
Team B: Blue
Team C: Red
When team B has possession they have to try and string 10 passes together without being tackled. If they go outside of the square possession goes to team C
When team C has possession they are allowed to use Team A but Team A are only allowed to move laterally along their line. Again, they have to try and string 10 passes together without going outside of the square or being tackled.
Progression:
The defending team have to make their tackles by making saves
Coaching points:
* Both teams are moving into space to receive a pass and looking as to who they can make a follow up pass to
* Players are aware as to where their team mates are and where they are moving to.
* Planning ahead, ie not just thinking about the passs but where they are moving to after the pass
