Arrival Activity (15 mins)

Each player has a ball, dribbling around, lots of touches.

Begin with free time to use the ball however they want.


Add in challenges:

  • On whistle, perform an 'L' turn (drag back and move to the side)
  • On whistle, Cruyff turn
  • Can you use the outsides of your feet to dribble?

Shooting Technique (10 mins)

Inside the main area, players move around passing and receiving the ball.


2 goals, with a coach behind each goal with footballs. 

Each coach will randomly call a player's name - that player will then run out of the grid towards the coach/goal, ready to have a shot when the coach feeds them the ball. 

After their shot, they grab the ball, return it to the coach and go back into the grid.

Dribble to Finish (10 mins)

Inside the main area, players have one ball each, dribbling around.


2 goals, with a coach behind each goal. 

Each coach will randomly call a player's name - that player will then dribble out of the grid towards the goal and, when ready, have a shot. 

After their shot, they grab the ball and return to the grid.

Coconut Shy (10 mins)

2 teams, one each side of a grid. 

Middle of the grid = 3 cones, each with a football on top of it.


Each player has a ball.

On whistle, each player kicks their ball and tries to knock one of the balls off the cones - 1 point for each ball knocked off. 


Collect footballs, back to your side.

SSG (15 mins)

SSG - No goalkeepers, each goal has a cone in it with a football on top of it.


1 point for a regular goal, 3 points for knocking the ball off the cone (cone position to change after every knock off)
