Objective: Man Marking from Behind
Description: We have 3 zones with players receiving passes.
In zone A, there are 2 defenders and 1 of them marks the attacker from behind. The passer makes it a 2v2
situation.
In the B zones, the defenders are positioned to the side and must try to prevent the attacker from turning
towards the poles and crossing the ball.
In zone A, the objective is to score in the goal. In the B zones, the objective is to cross the ball through the
2 poles as shown in the diagram.
Progression: Defenders start from a distance of 4 yards away from the attacker (much nearer).

- Players Match up with players from other team.
- Players play a possession style game, playing the ball through the gates to a teammate. Each pass completed requires the opposite teams players who were marking to do push ups. For each goal 2 players should be doing pushups, or burpies.
- Focus on marking players and transitioning quickly to offense and spreading out upon winning the ball.

Players play 6v6 to 3 goals.
Attackers can after 4 passes leave their grid. They may only move one grid over.
Defenders may not leave their grid to start. After a bit they may only leave the grid if they are called in by their teammate in that grid.
After 4 passes offense can leave thier grid But After 4 passes in the middle grid with numbers up it must leave and can come back in. Forcing players to change the point of attack, as well as making the defenders be aware of the option of the point of attack being changed.

Description
We will have 3 defenders, 2 centre midfielders, 2 wingers and 1 forward (3-2-3 formation) playing against 4 defenders (blue) a mid fielder and a goalkeeper.
The ball starts with the defenders and one of them passes to a centre midfielder, who then dribbles or combines going forward and passes to one of the 3 attacking players. From that point we have a 5v4 attack in the highlighted area with the players free to make the decisions.
Objective
We work on building up play, decision making and attacking in the final third.
Coaching Points
We want the players to make the right decisions to get in behind the defence and score a goal.
- Play starts with a switch from the right or left back. Combinations could be LB, CM, CB, CAM, CM play.
- Defenders need to determine which is the immediate threat and minimize it.
- Attackers need to play quickly and look to spread out the defense.
- CORNERS WORK ON MARKING
