Description

1 to 1 training session designed for Arsenal and Wales youth player Bethan McGowan designed to enhance facets of her ability to play in both the centre of midfield and in the number 10 position. 

Session will cover her passing, control, running and dribbling skills and look to further enhance finishing from various distances and angles.

E1 (10 mins)

Time: 10 Minutes

Set up : a grid around 30x20 with 2 gates at the top (1 and 2) then 3 poles in the middle with starting gate for coach (black) and player (red).

Exercise:

-Player moves to 1 side of poles where the coach will feed a pass. Player the returns the ball, moves back to their gate and then moves to other side where coach plays a ball again for player to return the pass. 

-This continues until coach calls 1 or 2. On this call player will control the ball and play the ball through that gate.

-Player moves back to their starting gate and play resume again.

-This continues until coach uses all the balls.

E2 (10 mins)

Time: 10 Minutes

Set Up:

-30x20 grid once more with a single pole one side and a slalom style set up of poles on the opposite.

Exercise:

-Coach serves the ball to the player to their left.

-Player controls the ball and then runs with the ball directly at the pole half way up and then change direction and move to the end of the grid.

-The player the will pass the ball back to the coach and then move to the other side of the grid (light jog).

-The player then will pick up a ball from that side and move with the ball under control through the slalom cones and then pass to coach once through and then sprint for the corner.

-Player will then receive a pass off the coach and perform the course backwards.

-Player will work the course 4 times.

E3 (10 mins)

Time: 10 Minutes

Set Up:

-30x20 with 3 scoring gates on each end and a central gate that coach stands in

-Player stands at central gate (2) with the ball.

-Place even amount of balls at each end.

Exercise:

-Player passes a ball to the coach in the middle.

-The player then moves forward and receives the ball back from the coach.

-The player takes the ball through the central gate and play the ball through 1, 2 or 3 as called by the coach.

-Coach acts as passive defender each time.

-Play till run out of balls and complete 4 sets.

E4 (10 mins)

Set Up:

-Set up a starting point for player and a gate with poles on each side.

Exercise:

-Player passes ball to coach and then moves through their starting gate.

-Once through the coach passes the ball back to the player who controls, turns and moves through the next gate.

-Once player is through they shoot for goal and the return to their starting point.

-Continue until all balls used and then move to other side.

-Do 2 sets each side (4 in total).

E5 (10 mins)

Time: 10 Minutes

Set Up:

-10x10 for player.

-Coach starts at any random spot with balls about 20 yards away.

Exercise:

-Coach feeds a ball into the player in the box.

-Player controls, turns and runs with the ball at pace and then takes a shot at goal, player then returns to their box.

-Continue this till all used.

-Play 4 sets with coach moving to random positions to serve to player.

Time: 10 Minutes

Set Up:

-Poles will be placed to act as a wall with coach acting as goalkeeper.

-Balls will be placed at selected places away from the goal.

Exercise:

-Player will practice taking free kicks. 

-Player will take 4 sets with each set at a different angle.
